The Hunter 150 TR is already on sale in some African countries, but here’s why it’s patented in India

Hero MotoCorp has filed a design patent for the Hunter 150 TR in India. The patent images reveal three variants of the same motorcycle, each featuring subtle styling differences.

    What We Know So Far

The first two variants are road-focused models. One gets a simple round headlight, which could be the base variant, while the other features a small headlight cowl for a slightly sportier look. Both motorcycles get a long single-piece seat, a rear luggage rack, fork gaiters, and a basic analogue instrument cluster, giving them a simple yet sturdy look.

The third variant is the most interesting of the lot. It gets adventure-inspired styling with a high-mounted front fender, fork gaiters, and knuckle guards, giving it a more rugged appearance.

All three variants should have the same underpinnings, including a telescopic fork, twin shock absorbers, 17-inch alloy wheels, and drum brakes at both ends. They are expected to be powered by a 150cc single-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed gearbox.

On that note, Hero has also patented the Eco 150 in India.

While Hero has filed a design patent for these motorcycles in India, they are unlikely to be launched here. These are expected to be updated versions of the Hunter 150 for African markets such as Nigeria, Uganda and Tanzania. Hero should have patented them in India for copyright protection.
