TVS has launched another e-scooter for the Indian market called the Orbiter. This is the brand’s third e-scooter after the TVS iQube range and the TVS X. At a price of Rs 99,900 (ex-showroom Bengaluru), it is now the most affordable e-scooter from TVS, and comes with a pretty good claimed range, top speed and loads of usable features.
Design
The TVS Orbiter gets a futuristic design language with a big LED headlight and a DRL strip on the apron. Along with this, the e-scooter also gets distinctive looking boxy body panels, a tall visor, flat single piece seat and is available in 6 colour options: Neon Sunburst, Stratos Blue, Lunar Grey, Martian Copper, Cosmic Titanium and Stellar Silver. All in all, it is similar to the iQube with a boxy styling, but looks a bit sleeker.
Battery Pack And Performance
This new e-scooter comes with a 3.1kWh battery pack which is IP-67 rated and powers a 2.1kW hub mounted motor. The claimed IDC (Indian driving condition) range is 158km, while the claimed top speed is 68kmph and it goes from 0 to 40kmph in 6.8-seconds. The range on the Orbiter is 64km more than the 94km claimed range of the base 2.2kWh iQube. On the other hand, the iQube has a slightly higher top speed at 75kmph. It comes with a 650W charger which charges it from 0 to 80% in 4hour 10minutes. The Orbiter also gets two ride modes: Eco and City.
Underpinnings
The TVS Orbiter gets a large 14-inch front and a 12-inch rear alloy wheel setup, wrapped with 90-section tyres at both ends. The large front wheel should ensure it goes over potholes and bumps effortlessly. It gets a conventional telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers at the rear.
Unlike the base TVS iQube which gets a front disc and rear drum brake setup, the Orbiter comes with drum brakes at both ends with CBS (combined braking system). At 169mm the e-scooter also gets a pretty decent ground clearance as well. It should also be fairly manageable to move around in the parking lot thanks to the 112kg kerb weight.
Features
Just like almost all TVS products, even this affordable e-scooter comes with a long list of usable features. It gets all LED lights with coloured 5.5-inch LCD console which supports smartphone connectivity along with turn-by-turn navigation and SMS/call alerts. One of the biggest highlights here is the addition of a cruise control system. Sure, it’s a welcome feature, but the limited 68kmph top speed and the fact that it isn’t an out-and-out performance scooter mean it may not be all that practical on Indian roads.
More importantly it gets a spacious 34-litre underseat storage (good for two half-face helmets), a convenient cubby hole at the front and a 290mm long footboard (close to 1 feet)for better comfort and carrying more groceries. Other than this the Orbiter also gets a reverse mode, regenerative braking, automatic hill hold assist, geo fencing, tow alert, crash/fall alert and an apron-mounted USB charging port. TVS is offering a 3-year, 50,000km warranty on the Orbiter.

At an effective price lower by Rs 2,618 than the base 2.2kWh TVS iQube, the Orbiter now sits as a much more value for money e-scooter from the brand. Even though it’s boxy, the overall design is still different enough from the iQube - something that buyers will appreciate. While it may not have the fancy TFT screen or as high a top speed as the iQube, it makes up with an impressive claimed range, a healthy set of usable features and underpinnings perfect for Indian roads. It rivals the base variants of the Ather Rizta, Bajaj Chetak and Ola S1 X.
Additionally, by offering just one fully-loaded product, TVS has kept things a lot simpler with the Orbiter as opposed to the iQube range with a confusing set of variants and sub-variants.

Good pickup, stylish design as the colour combination looks futuristic. TVS is a big brand, so service is very good and easy to find. Built quality is also one of the good reason to pickup this bike. It gives great experience. The range is a big concern while going to college. Except that, everything is very good like the pickup while overtaking vehicles, durability during pot-holes and a suspension works good. I just wanted to reduce my fuel cost which was about Rs.2500-3000 per month, Navigation feature of this machine as I can track my son's position while he is driving. Its suspension gives the great comfort ride. I have riding Orbitor almost 1000Km in one month, its cruise mode is good, because of accelerator sometimes hand suffer a lot but cruise mode make rides really easy specially on highway. CITY mode is powerful but quick battery consumer. Yes, I have recommended many of my friends, one of my friend daily travel around 100km range and I told him to buy this as it will cut down his fuel cost. Motor and looks are very impressive. This is my first electric scooter and I am very much satisfied. Got a good assistance from showroom as well. Scooter ride is very smooth and tyre size looks good as well. Ride is very impressive till today, I took v1 version and sometimes facing problem with range of I have to ride for long. Handling is very impressive and colours combination is very funky. Love this bike till now. Yes I will definitely recommend this scooter looking at the price bucket and the features. Secondly, I have also bought TVS IQube earlier so I came back, And best part is the mobile charging slot nearby. Highly comfortable and smooth ride with perfect speed hold and pickup as required.
