BREAKING: TVS Jupiter With Start-Stop System Launched
The new variant replaces the iTouchStart variant at no extra cost
The new variant replaces the iTouchStart variant at no extra cost
- TVS’ jargon for the start-stop system is the intelliGo.
- This feature helps in improving the mileage of the scooter by shutting down the engine while idling in traffic for a long time.
- It’s also the only scooter in the 110cc segment to have this feature.
TVS has updated its popular 110cc scooter, the Jupiter, with a start-stop system. The newly launched variant, called the TVS Jupiter ZX Disc with IntelliGo, replaces the iTouchStart variant that was launched back in August 2020. The new scooter costs Rs 72,347 (ex-showroom Delhi), same as the variant with the iTouchStart feature.
The TVS IntelliGo system switches off the motor while it idles in traffic for a long time. A simple twist of the throttle brings the motor back to life. This feature helps in conserving fuel as well as reducing emissions, especially in traffic-riddled roads. TVS claims the BS6-compliant version of the Jupiter offers 15 percent better mileage than the carburetted BS4 model, and this newly introduced feature should help in improving the mileage even further. The newly launched variant is the only scooter in the 110cc segment with this feature. Usually found in 125cc scooters, we hope the start-stop system helps Jupiter get the upper hand over its primary rival, the Honda Activa 6G.
Other features such as the LED headlamp and tail lamp, 2-litre apron-mounted glovebox, mobile charging port, and generous 21-litre underseat storage have all been carried over from the ZX Disc brake-equipped variant. Underpinnings include a telescopic fork with a 220mm front disc and a 130mm rear drum with a 3-step preload-adjustable rear shock absorber. The scooter employs a 109.7cc single-cylinder BS6-compliant motor, churning out 7.4PS and 8.4Nm. Also Read:
The Jupiter ZX Disc with IntelliGo is available in two colours: Starlight Blue and Royal Wine. Apart from the Honda Activa 6G, it also competes against the Hero Maestro Edge 110 BS6. If you're keen on saving up money, you could also go for the TVS Jupiter ZX drum variant, which is Rs 4,100 less expensive than the newly launched model.
