The leading German automotive Giant, BMW Motorrad has revealed that it will not assembling its motorcycles in India. According to some earlier reports, the manufacturer was planning to initiate its CKD (Completely Knocked Down) assembly in the country, which could have brought a considerable downfall in the price of BMW motorcycles with an enhanced reach to its buyers. The report also revealed that the company’s Chennai-based local assembly plant will not be used to assemble motorcycles, that currently runs for congregating BMW luxury cars. On this, the Bavarian auto maker stated that its car and motorcycle business are two separate entities, which should not be mixed.

BMW Motorrad has collaborated with Chennai based two-wheeler manufacturer, TVS Motors for producing sub 500cc motorcycles. The first bike is expected to come by the end of 2015 and is likely to be showcased at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. The company will be manufacturing its sub 500cc motorcycles at the TVS facility in the country. However, the iconic car and bike maker will not be able to stand on its CKD decision for a long term due to the continuously flourishing market of superbikes in the country. Currently, it is in the limelight due to the much talked about BMW-TVS collaboration, which can prove a promising factor for the company.
