It was reported that BMW is working on three new motorcycles based on the R nineT streetbike which are scheduled to debut under its heritage moniker at the 2016 EICMA motorcycle show. And the first among the three bikes was unveiled by BMW Motorrad at the Wheels & Waves custom bike festival in Biarritz, France. The BMW Concept Lac Rose was showcased at the same motorcycle event in France where also the R nineT Scrambler in a concept form was unveiled last year. The bike has been named after the rose-coloured Retba salt lake, where the Paris-Dakar rally used to end.

According to the German bikemaker the Concept Lac Rose is an amalgamation of the classic BMW G/S and the modern BMW R nineT. As expected the styling of the concept bike is heavily based on the BMW G/S like the windscreen, high mudguard, headlight, bulbous tank and the short saddle. Being an off-road motorcycle, BMW engineers have equipped the concept bike with the necessary hardware to tame the rough terrain. The BMW Concept Lac Rose features a long travel suspension, wire-spoked wheels, off-road spec tyres, bash plate, knuckle guards and fork gaiters. The paint scheme of the motorcycle is reminiscent of the Dakar rally winning G/S in orange and white.

The bike is powered by a 1,170cc flat-twin motor churning out 110PS and 119Nm of peak torque. Given the fact that the Scrambler concept that was showcased made into production we can expect the BMW Concept Lac Rose to go on sale in the European market by early 2017 and expect the bike to hit our shores by mid-2017.
