Design

The Benelli TRK 552 and TRK 552X get a similar design language to the TRK 502 range. Both motorcycles get twin LED projector headlights, a muscular fuel tank, and a wide handlebar. Both bikes also get a tall windscreen, which should help with wind protection at higher speeds. Overall, the bikes look quite muscular with a proper ADV stance.

The TRK 552 comes in Black and White colour options. The TRK 552X comes in Green and White shades, while the TRK 552X Limited Edition gets a striking Yellow colour option.

Engine & Gearbox

Both bikes are powered by a brand-new 554cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that makes 52 PS at 8,500 rpm and 49 Nm at 6,500 rpm (5 PS and 2 Nm more than the 47 PS and 46 Nm TRK 502). The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch, which prevents the rear wheel from locking during aggressive downshifts.

Underpinnings

The Benelli bikes get a tubular steel trellis frame paired with an aluminium swingarm. Suspension duties are handled by a 50 mm Marzocchi inverted fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock.

However, the main difference between the two bikes is the wheel setup. The TRK 552 gets 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends, making it better suited for city and highway duties. It has a ground clearance of 190 mm and a seat height of 835 mm.

The TRK 552X, on the other hand, gets spoke wheels with a larger 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear wheel. It has more ground clearance at 210 mm and a taller seat height of 860 mm. Both bikes have a kerb weight of 235 kg and get a large 20-litre fuel tank.

Braking duties are handled by twin 320 mm floating discs at the front and a 260 mm disc at the rear, with Bosch dual-channel ABS offered as standard. The TRK 552 comes with Pirelli tyres, while the TRK 552X gets Metzeler adventure-spec tyres.

Features

Both bikes are equipped with a 5-inch TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and call/SMS alerts. One interesting feature on the bikes is that the inbuilt navigation system supports route planning, turn-by-turn directions, offline navigation and trackback functionality, all of which should be handy when riding long distances.

Other features include a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), heated grips and even a heated seat. The bikes also get an adjustable handlebar, which allows riders to customise their riding position, while knuckle guards are standard for added protection.

Safety features include dual-channel ABS and a hazard light switch.

BikeDekho Says

The Benelli TRK 552 and TRK 552X bring some meaningful updates over the TRK 502 series. The bigger engine with more power should make the Benelli bikes more capable on the highway, while added equipment like the TFT console, heated grips, heated seat, and TPMS will increase their comfort and premium appeal.

The TRK 552 makes more sense for riders who primarily ride in the city and out on open highways, while the TRK 552X is better suited to those who want a more adventure-oriented setup and additional ground clearance.

Its main rivals are the Honda NX500, and BMW F 450 GS.
