Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 To Be Launched In India?

The 125cc motorcycle went on sale in Colombia recently

The 125cc motorcycle went on sale in Colombia recently

  • The Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 is likely to be launched in India in a few months.
  • Once launched, it will be the most affordable Pulsar in India.
  • It is likely to be priced around Rs 63,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
  • The Colombia-spec bike features a carburetted 125cc air-cooled 4-valve motor.

Bajaj Auto has launched the Pulsar NS125 in Colombia. Interestingly, this motorcycle comes with a carburetted motor instead of the fuel-injected unit sold in other international markets. Also, it features a 240mm disc up front and a 130mm drum at the rear linked to a combined braking system (CBS) just like the newly-launched Platina 110 H-Gear

These two aspects of the motorcycle suggest that it could be launched in India as well, presumably in a few months. The motorcycle sold abroad is in fact exported from India, so logistical efforts for Bajaj to launch the bike in its homeland will be minimal.

In terms of design, the Pulsar NS125 looks almost similar to the Pulsar LS135. The 125cc engine has a 4-valve configuration, putting out 11.9PS at 8500rpm and 10.8Nm at 7000rpm in the Colombia-spec bike. This is mated to a 5-speed transmission. If you recall, the LS135 was the first 4-valve motorcycle from Bajaj.

We believe the India-spec NS125 will have the same engine as the one sold in Colombia. Thanks to the 4-valve configuration, there’s also a degree of assurance that the motor could be BS6 ready.

When launched, it will replace the now-discontinued Pulsar LS135. The new ABS norms have pushed the price of the base Pulsar 150 (Neon edition) to Rs 68,250 (ex-showroom Delhi). Hence it makes sense for Bajaj to lower the entry point for its Pulsar range with the NS125. It is likely to be priced around Rs 63,000 (ex-showroom) and at this pricing, it would be the most affordable Pulsar in India.
