Overview
The much awaited 250cc sports bike, Hero HX250R has received the attention of the Indian auto freaks right since its inception. Waiting to land on Indian soil, the bike will be the first offering from Hero in the 250cc segment. The four-stroke, liquid-cooled mill generates a peak power of 31bhp at 9,000rpm with a maximum torque of 26Nm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed transmission system that pushes the bike to a top speed of 150kmph.
The bike is constructed on a lightweight Geodesic tubular frame incorporated with small trellis shaped swing arm. It is fitted with 110/80 front and 140/70 rear tubeless tyres with stylish black alloy wheels. The braking duties of HX250R are carried out by 300mm disc brake with three piston calliper at the front and 220mm disc brake at the rear. The bike comes with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) as an optional feature. Hero HX250R is equipped with telescopic suspension at the front and 5-step adjustable monoshock at the rear.
The body dynamics of Hero HX250R are crafted in a sports bike manner. Its front profile comes with twin sporty headlamps with LED positioning lamp. The front fairing is neatly crafted giving it a true sports bike feel. The fuel tank is raised and pointed that gives a good riding position along with superior looks. It also features a rear split seat that enhances its sporty character. Furthermore, the exhaust system finds its place under the seat and looks marvellous. The rear fender comes super short with tiny rectangular LED tail lamp and clear lens turning blinkers.
The instrument cluster comes fully digital with speedometer, analogue tachometer, fuel gauge and twin tripmeters. The bike sports a fuel tank of 12.90 liter capacity. The bike has a wheelbase of 1370mm with a ground clearance of 145mm giving it a true sports bike stance. With its unbeatable looks and powerful engine, Hero HX250R can emerge as a game changer in Indian 250cc motorcycle market.
Design
Hero HX250R has been majorly derived from its predecessor, Hero Karizma ZMR in terms of aesthetics. The front profile gets twin headlamp section that takes the visuals of the machine to an all new level. The aerodynamically designed black coloured visor looks stunning and protects the rider from wind blasts at higher speeds. The fuel tank has been designed in a sharp and pointed manner that gives an impressive appearance to the bike and offers a good and comfortable riding position to the rider. The front semi fairing of the bike dresses it up well in a proper sporty costume. The bike further features a sporty step up, split seat that adds some more sportiness into the bike’s DNA. Coming towards the rear, the bike has a stylish split grab rail that looks magnificent along with the robust LED tail lamp unit. The rear fender ends up just below the number plate and shows up the bare athletic rear of the bike quite impressively.
The bike has the following body dimensions: 2,085mm x 735mm x 1,145mm (LxWxH) that gives it a respectable stance in public. A wheelbase of 1,370mm ensures superior handling in all conditions. Furthermore, the bike has a minimum ground clearance of 145mm that promises superb handling around the corners and tight traffic conditions. The instrumentation of the bike is done intelligently that comprises of a digital speedometer, tachometer, twin tripmeters and fuel gauge.
Features
Hero HX250R has a responsive and powerful braking system that comprises of 300mm disc brake at the front and 220mm disc brake at the rear. The twin rear view mirrors keeps the rider alert and aware of the activities going behind him, thereby prevents any mishap. The maintenance free battery cuts down on maintenance costs and proves pocket friendly. The Combined Braking System (CBS) applies both brakes automatically while pressing the rear brake lever only. The above mentioned safety features make the bike a true and safe companion for the streets as well as long open stretches.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
Hero HX250R has been powered by a 249cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder DOHC, Liquid cooled engine that comes mated to a six-speed constant mesh transmission system and uses wet multiplate clutch assembly. The engine churns out a net power of 31bhp at 9,000rpm along with a maximum torque of 26Nm. The mill has a power to weight ratio of 223bhp per ton and has a power oriented bore x stroke ratio of 81mm x 48.5mm. With this, Hero HX250R accelerates from 0 to 60kmph in just 2.70 seconds and hits a top speed of 150kmph.
Handling & Ride Quality
The bike runs on 110/80R-17 front and 140/70R-17 rear unidirectional tyres that comes mounted over robust black alloy wheels. The tubeless tyres do not deflate suddenly in case of a puncture, hence gives another benefit to the rider. The bike stops with the help of 300mm disc brake with three piston callipers upfront and 220mm disc brake at the rear. Hero HX250R avails a stress free and comfortable ride as it comes equipped with telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers at the front and Single shock with 5 Step adjustable preload at the rear.

February 3, 2016: First unveiled in 2014 Auto Expo, the quarter-liter bike HX250R has showcased once again in today at the 2016 Auto Expo. India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer has since bounced back and announced that the race-bred motorcycle will see the light of day this year. It is fitted with a liquid-cooled, fuel injected, single-cylinder engine that develops a maximum power of 31bhp at 9000 rpm and 26Nm of peak torque. when launched, it will lock horns with Honda CBR 250 R and bigger players including Kawasaki Ninja 300, DSK-Benelli TNT 300, and KTM 390 Duke.
