For over 25 years, the Ducati Monster has been the company’s primary naked motorcycle series. Currently, Ducati sells the small 797 and the middleweight 821 in India. The Monster 821 is still to receive its BS6 updates, a process that’s happening right now. But until the BS6 bike is launched, the Monster 821 will no longer be available at dealerships.
Ducati Monster 821 Price:
The Ducati Monster 821 has just a single variant but different colours have different price tags. The BS4 Ducati Monster 821 price for the Ducati Red colour is Rs 10.99 lakh while for an additional Rs 16,000, you could opt for the Dark Stealth or Ducati Yellow shades, all ex-showroom Delhi. Expect a small price increment once the BS6 bike is launched.
Ducati Monster 821 Features:
The Ducati Monster 821 resembles the original Monster in many ways with its chunky fuel tank and round-ish headlight. Barring the headlight, which is halogen bulb-lit, you find LEDs on every lighting system. The TFT colour dash is Ducati Multimedia System ready, the module coming in at a small price premium.
Ducati Monster 821 Engine:
The Ducati Monster 821 is propelled by a 821cc Testastretta 11° L-twin motor that in its current BS4 trim produces 109PS and 86Nm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. Electronic riding aids on the Monster 821 are three riding modes, traction control and dual-channel ABS. A bi-directional quickshifter is an optional fitment on the Ducati Monster 821.
Ducati Monster 821 Suspension & Brakes:
Compared to other Ducatis, the Monster 821 doesn't have as many top-drawer components. You get a 43mm USD fork, which is not adjustable, and a preload-adjustable monoshock. At the front, you find Brembo M4.32 monobloc calipers acting on two 320mm discs while the rear wheel gets a 245mm disc with a simple two-piston Brembo sliding caliper. The 17-inch alloy rims are shod with Pirelli Diablo Rosso 3 tyres.
Ducati Monster 821 Rivals:
The Monster 821 is Ducati’s contender in the middleweight naked segment that is currently dominated by the likes of the Triumph Street Triple R and the KTM 790 Duke. The BS6 versions of both of these motorcycles are to be launched soon.
