Yamaha is likely to expand its XSR range with a quarter-litre neo-retro motorcycle!

  • The upcoming neo-retro motorcycle could be called the XSR250.
  • It will follow the same design language as other XSR variants.
  • Certain markets around the world could get an XSR300 instead.

Right now, the motorcycling world is going gaga over Yamaha’s latest neo-retro offering, the XSR155. If you still haven't heard or seen the XSR155, then here’s everything you need to know about it. However, according to some online reports, Yamaha might be planning to add a bigger variant of the XSR155 to its international lineup. And it is likely to be called the XSR250.

When it comes to looks, the image shows that the motorcycle will follow the same design philosophy as other XSR motorcycles. So, it will sport a teardrop fuel tank, a round LED headlamp and a single-piece seat. The upcoming motorcycle will be based on the MT-25. So it will come equipped with a tubular frame instead of the deltabox frame seen on the XSR155.

The XSR250 could even use the same powerplant as the MT-25. However, if Yamaha were to sell this motorcycle in markets such as Europe, America and maybe even India, Yamaha could also plonk the all-new R3’s 321cc liquid-cooled motor and call it the XSR300 instead. This motor belts out 42PS of power and 27Nm of torque.

However, it is highly unlikely that Yamaha will launch the XSR250/300 in India any time soon as we are yet to see the 2019 YZF-R3 here.
