The base variant of the Yamaha R15 V4 doesn’t skip out on a lot of features, so you don’t necessarily have to spend extra to get the premium M variant

    R15 V4

The Yamaha R15 V4 range comes with two broad variants: std and M. They are further divided into different categories as per the features and colours offered. But with multiple variants, including the pricier R15M, the big question is whether the base Standard model gives you the full R15 experience? Here’s what all the base variant offers:

    Price & Positioning

Yamaha has priced the standard R15 V4 from Rs 1,73,050 to Rs 1,77,700 (ex-showroom, Delhi), with figures varying slightly based on the colour chosen.

    Variants for R15 V4

    Price (ex-showroom Delhi)

R15 V4 Intensity White Without Quickshifter Rs 1,73,050
     R15 V4 Metallic Black  Rs 1,73,050
     R15 V4 Metallic Red  Rs 1,73,050
     R15 V4 Dark Knight  Rs 1,73,950
R15 V4 Intensity White With Quickshifter Rs 1,77,700
     R15 V4 Matte Pearl White  Rs 1,77,700
     R15 V4 Racing Blue  Rs 1,77,700

    Design & Styling

    Yamaha R15 V4 Design

Visually, the standard R15 V4 does not look like a compromise. This includes the aggressive full fairing designed for better aerodynamics, the projector LED headlamp flanked by sleek LED DRLs, a slim tail section, and a premium cast aluminium swingarm. Essentially, you get the full "aggressive R-series look" without needing to spend more.

The differences are purely cosmetic. The standard variant is available in more mainstream colours like Racing Blue, Metallic Black, and Metallic Red. It misses out on the exclusive touches reserved for the R15M, such as the Metallic Grey or Monster Energy MotoGP liveries, the 3D R15M logo, a carbon-fibre-pattern seat cover, and the distinct golden finish on the front brake caliper.

    Features

    R15 V4 Features

The standard R15 V4 is well-equipped, featuring a full-LCD instrument console that displays a gear position indicator, shift light, and other essential trip data. It also includes Yamaha's Y-Connect app for Bluetooth connectivity, giving you access to call/message alerts, mobile battery status, and fuel efficiency data through your smartphone. A side-stand engine cut-off switch is also standard.

Note that this doesn’t have turn-by-turn navigation, which is reserved in the TFT screen of the M variant. But then again, you won’t necessarily miss it as you can simply buy the USB charging port and a smartphone holder from Yamaha’s official accessories list for the R15 V4. It also gets bulb indicators as compared to the M variant’s slimmer LED units.

    Safety & Hardware

    R15 V4 Hardware

This is arguably the strongest case for the standard variant. Yamaha has made no compromises on the core mechanicals and safety package. It comes with a dual-channel ABS and a traction control as standard. An Assist & Slipper clutch is also included, which prevents rear-wheel hop during aggressive downshifts and makes the clutch action lighter.

The chassis hardware is identical to the more expensive models. You get a 37mm upside-down (USD) fork and a linked-type monocross rear suspension, a combination that provides excellent handling and stability. It has disc brakes at both ends, (282mm at front and 220mm at rear) ensuring strong and confident stopping power.

    Engine & Performance

    R15 V4 Engine

At the heart of the R15is the same 155cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine across all variants. This motor produces a healthy 18.4 PS at 10,000 rpm and 14.2 Nm of torque at 7500 rpm, paired with a slick 6-speed gearbox. The engine features Yamaha's Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology, which ensures good low-end grunt for city riding while delivering a strong top-end rush for highway performance. You also have the option to go for a version with a quickshifter. This will allow you to perform upshifts without using the clutch. Note that this doesn’t function for downshifts.

Choosing the standard variant means no sacrifice in performance. With a kerb weight of just 141 kg and an 11-litre fuel tank, the bike is nimble and efficient. In our tests, we got an impressive 55kmpl in mixed conditions.

    R15 V4

For the rider focused purely on performance-per-rupee, the Standard Yamaha R15 V4 is the definitive choice in the lineup. It offers the exact same thrilling engine, similar chassis, and crucial safety net of dual-channel ABS and traction control as the pricier R15M. By saving roughly Rs 10,000–15,000, the only real sacrifice is the convenience of a connected TFT screen. Coming back to the question: Does the Std variant give you the full ‘R15’ experience? The answer is a yes.

      r15 V4 Review
The r15 v4 has the old punch while handling the BS6 engine with good aerodynamics and aggressive seating position. Its very easy to reach 140+ with default setting while it was not made for the long drive push, we can try the limits where I've driven around 25,000km in the same bike as well. I love it as my soul.

Yamaha r15 v4 is a great fully faired sports bike
The reason i chose this bike was quite a story in short, i was a student who was about get in college and i needed a bike to travel a quite moderate distance. When i was searching for a bike which is highly affordable as well as stylish on the looks and has great features too! Then i came across this masterpiece which was totally worth it. The ride is great so far. But there are few factors to look for if a beginner is going to buy this bike, as a fully fair bike the biggest issue would be comfort on long ride eg. Posture issue because of the aggressive stance fully fair bikes usually have. But for the short to moderate distance its great soo far. And handling also good, and mileage is better than expected. One more thing to consider, if someone lives in a crowded city like area they can this as this bike isn't a street fighter or naked body bike for city specific conditions. I would absolutely recommend this bike to even a beginner who want to get a thrilling ride experience of a fully fair bike at price rang as low as this, mileage also great compared to other similar bikes, great handling too, maintenance is also fairly rated i would say, totally worth it!
