Xiaomi’s e-Bike Is Cheaper Than An iPhone!

The BMX-styled electric bicycle has a range of 80km with pedal assist

Xiaomi is renowned for its feature-loaded yet affordable smartphones. However, not many know that it also manufactures budget electric bicycles. The latest e-Bike to come out of Xiaomi’s assembly line is this: the Himo C2O. As you would have imagined, the e-Bike bears an affordable price tag of just $375 (around Rs 26,000), making electric vehicles quite affordable even for youngsters. However, even grown-ups would love to zip around town in this pint-sized e-Bike.

Rather than making a big e-Bike that would be cumbersome for the cyclist, Xiaomi has gone for a minimalistic design and has given the Himo C2O a BMX-inspired styling. The specifications of this e-Bike are pretty good, especially when you consider its affordable price tag. It features a 36V 10Ah removable battery pack, which the company claims takes six hours to charge, and a rear hub motor that produces 250W. Xiaomi claims that the Himo C2O has a top speed of 25kmph and range of 80km on a single charge using pedal assist. The electric bike features 20-inch wheels and disc brakes at both ends. Xiaomi has employed an aluminium frame to keep weight low and the e-Bike tips the scale at just 21kg.

Although it is a budget electric bicycle, Xiaomi has tried to equip it with as many features as possible. It gets LED lights at the front and rear as well as an LCD display that showcases information such as range, battery percentage and trip meter. If that wasn’t enough, the Himo C2O is also available with a modular air-pump that’s neatly placed under the seat. 

As of now, Xiaomi isn’t selling this e-Bike outside China. But given its cut-throat pricing, we hope it lands on Indian shores soon.
