Weird Flex: The Lexmoto Detroit Is A Harley-Davidson Iron 883 On A Shoestring Budget

The Lexmoto cruiser apes the American motorcycle in almost every aspect, except performance

The Lexmoto cruiser apes the American motorcycle in almost every aspect, except performance

Lexmoto, a UK-based Chinese motorcycle manufacturer has introduced its newest motorcycle, called the Detroit, in its domestic market. This brand caters to the learner’s class (50cc and 125cc) and the new cruiser’s appeal lies in its design.

A glance at the Lexmoto Detroit, and you can easily draw similarities with the Harley-Davidson Iron 883. From its compact headlight and the petite fuel tank to the centrally mounted monopod instrument console and even the 9-spoke alloy wheels, everything draws inspiration from the American cruiser giant’s sportster motorcycle.

While the Iron 883 flaunts a big V-twin powerhouse, Lexmoto’s new cruiser uses a puny 125cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces a modest 9.5PS and 9Nm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

The hardware on the Lexmoto Detroit is pretty basic too. It features a telescopic fork and dual shock setup while braking duties are entrusted to disc brakes at both ends. This cruiser runs on a 18/15-inch wheel setup, which is a rare sight.

Given that this bike is intended for new riders, it is relatively light, tipping the scales at 141kg (kerb) with an accessible seat height of 720mm.

The Lexmoto Detroit retails for GBP 2900 which translates to Rs 2.82 lakh. While it may seem steep by Indian standards, it is quite affordable in the UK. For reference, it costs half as much as the Yamaha XSR125 in the same market.

Lastly, the Lexmoto Detroit is certainly not headed to India, so your choices for small-displacement cruisers are limited to the Bajaj Avenger 160 Street and the Suzuki Intruder 155.

Title: Harley Davidson Iron

Title: Harley Davidson Iron 883: A True Iron Horse Buying Experience: I had always dreamed of owning a Harley Davidson, and the Iron 883 was my dream bike. I walked into the dealership and was immediately drawn to its sleek, blacked-out look. The salesperson was knowledgeable and friendly, and he answered all of my questions patiently. I took the bike for a test ride and was instantly hooked. The ride was smooth and powerful, and the bike handled like a dream. I knew right then that I had to have it. Shortlisting Process: I considered other bikes in the same price range, such as the Indian Scout and the Triumph Bonneville. However, the Iron 883 was my clear favorite. I loved its classic styling, powerful engine, and comfortable ride. Pros: Classic styling: The Iron 883 has a timeless look that never goes out of style. Powerful engine: The 883cc Evolution engine is smooth and powerful, and it delivers plenty of torque. Comfortable ride: The Iron 883 is surprisingly comfortable, even for longer rides. Excellent handling: The bike handles like a dream, and it's easy to maneuver in traffic. Loud exhaust: The Iron 883 has a loud exhaust that sounds great. Cons: High price: The Iron 883 is a premium motorcycle, and it comes with a premium price tag. Limited storage: The bike doesn't have much storage space, so you'll need to invest in some saddlebags. Solo seat: The Iron 883 comes with a solo seat, so you can't take a passenger with you. Overall Performance: I've been riding my Iron 883 for over two years now, and I'm still in love with it. It's a great bike for everyday riding, and it's also perfect for weekend getaways. I get around 40 mpg, and the bike has plenty of pickup. I'm also very comfortable on the Iron 883, even on long rides. After-Sales Service: The after-sales service at my Harley Davidson dealership has been excellent. They're always quick to schedule appointments, and they do a great job of servicing my bike. The costs for parts and labor are reasonable, and I've never had to wait long for my bike to be serviced. Conclusion: The Harley Davidson Iron 883 is a great bike for anyone looking for a stylish, powerful, and comfortable ride. It's a bit pricey, but it's worth every penny. I highly recommend the Iron 883 to anyone looking for a great all-around motorcycle.Read More

Decent Bike

Cruiser bikes are the most comfortable bike, this is a decent Harley Davidson product for the Indian market. But prices matter for the bike.
