Vespa’s most powerful scooter costs more than the Kawasaki Ninja 400!

  • The Vespa GTS 300 is powered by a 278cc motor which belts out 23.5PS of power.
  • The funky Italian scooter comes with a 4.3-inch full-colour TFT instrument console.
  • It also gets dual-channel ABS as standard.

Vespa has taken the wraps off its most powerful and probably one of the most expensive petrol-powered scooters ever - the GTS 300 SuperTech. Priced at 4,80,000 Philippines Peso (around Rs 5.6 lakh), the GTS 300 SuperTech is around Rs 61,000 more expensive than the Kawasaki Ninja 400, which retails at Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. Luckily for us, the chances of this super-expensive scooter coming to our shores are pretty much next to zero as the company will have a tough time pitching this scooter to Indian clientele.

In terms of design, it looks just like any other Vespa out there, which is a good thing. That said, the old-school design philosophy is tempered with a number of modern features. For instance, it comes with a 4.3-inch full-colour TFT display which does more than just display speed and fuel level. Once connected to Vespa’s smartphone app called MIA, you can receive notifications regarding incoming calls and messages on the screen. Moreover, there’s a small joystick on the left side of the handlebar that activates voice commands for making calls or switching tracks.

Under the retro body lies a 278.3cc, liquid-cooled motor which produces 23.5PS of power and 26Nm of torque, making it one of the most powerful Vespas out there! A single shock absorber at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear take care of damping duties. 220mm disc at the front and rear couple with dual-channel ABS is offered as standard.

The Vespa GTS 300 SuperTech is very expensive, but Kymco’s X-Town 300i that’s sold in India is another example of a powerful scooter. It belts out 24.5PS and most importantly, it costs way less at Rs 2.3 lakh (on-road)!
