The American two-wheeler brand, UM Motorcycles, is planning to roll out a few of its motorcycles in India during the 2016 Indian Auto Expo in February. According to some reports, the recently introduced UM Renegade Sport S will be one of its products going to be launched in the initial phase. The bike is expected to be priced around Rs. 1.6 lac (ex-showroom, Delhi) in India.
The new UM Renegade Sport S was unveiled during the recent Milan Motorcycle Show (EICMA) in Italy and looks inspired by the Suzuki Intruder BOSS edition. Powering the bike is a 279cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which has been mated to a 6-speed transmission. The motor uses an electronic fuel injection (EFI) system to give 26.2bhp of maximum power at 8,600 rpm and a peak torque of 22.7Nm at 6,300 rpm.
Upcoming UM Renegade Sport S runs on 17” front and 15” rear alloy wheels and gets a front disc brake. The bike features 41mm telescopic Gabriel forks up front and twin hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear.
UM Motorcycles is making its debut in the Indian market with a renown local group, Lohia Auto, which is working on localising a majority of the components of this American two-wheeler brand. According to the UML, more than 50 percent of the components used in the motorcycles will be manufactured locally at the time of launch It will help the company to price their products aggressively against the competition.
