TVS Could Be Gearing Up A Triumph Trident 660 Rival

It’ll likely be on the sporty side to take on the Kawasaki Z650 and the Triumph Trident 660

According to reports that have now surfaced online, TVS is working on a bigger-engined, possibly performance-oriented motorcycle. Collaborating in this project with TVS will be its long-time partner BMW Motorrad, the partnership that has given birth to bikes like the Apache RR 310, BMW G 310 GS, G 310 R and the G 310 RR

The upcoming TVS bike will likely sport a 650-750cc multiple-cylinder engine. Contrary to online reports, though, we think the bike will be a liquid-cooled, more performance-oriented one instead of a retro one. Why? Firstly, TVS has always been a more performance-oriented brand.

Plus the company’s recent attempt at a retro bike was….umm a bit polarising. But more importantly, BMW currently doesn’t have a bike in the 650-750cc segment. So with this, the brand could be aiming to fill up that void. Moreover, the middleweight segment is booming as it offers a great balance of performance and affordability. Once launched, it will be India’s first modern liquid-cooled middleweight motorcycle.

These things said, the bike’s still quite some time away and it’s unlikely to be launched anytime before 2025. Once it comes here, it’ll rival the likes of the more performance-packed bikes like the Kawasaki Z650 and the Triumph Trident 660, instead of something like the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650.
