Triumph Tiger 900 India Launch Details Revealed; Three Variants To Be Brought

The middleweight adventure tourer gets a larger 888cc Euro 5-/BS6-compliant engine now
2020 is likely to be a slow moving year for big capacity motorcycles in India, with only a few bikes currently updated to Euro 5 emission norms. Among the new bikes to ride on our streets in 2020 will be the updated version of Triumph’s middleweight adventure motorcycle -- the Triumph Tiger 900. It is highly likely that the Tiger 900 will be launched in April, just as the BS6 emission norms kick in.
With the older Tiger 800, Triumph just brought the standard XR variant, the mid-spec XRx and XCx trim and the top-of-the-line XCa model. Triumph hasn’t divulged which variants of the Tiger 900 will be brought to India. However, we believe that the Brit manufacturer will be bringing the two top-spec models -- the GT Pro and the Rally Pro -- as well as the standard Rally trim to our shores. Expect prices to range between Rs 13 lakh and Rs 16 lakh.
Powering this new generation adventure motorcycle is an 888cc triple motor with a revised 1-3-2 firing order. Despite the extra cubes, max power remains the same at 95PS. Peak torque of 87Nm is 8Nm more than the older engine, as it kicks in at a lower 7250rpm (800rpm lower).
The road-focused GT Pro model gets Marzocchi suspension units. You could adjust the damping as well as the preload settings on the rear monoshock electronically. It retains the 19-/17-inch alloy wheel setup and will come shod with Metzeler Tourance tyres. On the top-spec Tiger 900 Rally Pro, the fully-adjustable suspension units are sourced from Showa. Thankfully, the off road-biased Rally trims now get tubeless spoke rims and run with the same old Bridgestone Battlax Adventure tyres. All models of the Tiger 900 use Brembo’s state-of-the-art Stylema calipers.
