This Electric ADV Has A Claimed Range Of More Than 400km

ADVs are meant to be go-anywhere and do-it-all machines. But how about an ADV that can do all of that and be green at the same time? Case in point, Italian EV manufacturer Energica unveiled its latest ADV, the Experia. Here’s a lowdown into everything that this eco-friendly terrain-tamer gets.
With a revised battery chemistry, the Experia intends to strike a balance between performance and range; all while being better for the environment. The company claims that the new 22.5kWh is the largest on any e-bike so far.
Slot it into City mode and it’ll give you a claimed range of 420km. That is more than a lot of the electric cars out there. Not only that, Energica claims that the charging time for 0-80% on a level-3 DC fast charger is a scant 40 minutes only. Now that’s impressive!
With a Permanent Magnet Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Motor, the Experia makes a claimed 60kW of continuous power and 75kW of peak power and a healthy 115Nm at the wheel.
To support the Experia’s touring credentials, Energica has replaced the steel chassis, as seen on its other ADVs for a steel tubular trellis frame and aluminium side plates. The monoshock at the rear is now centrally positioned. The bike comes equipped with fully adjustable suspension to help set it up according to the rider’s needs. That said, the 17-inch alloys at both ends and the fact that it tips the scales at 260kg pretty much instantly kill any hardcore off-road ambitions. You get a 120/70 tyre at the front and a 180/55 at the rear.
The Experia comes with a comprehensive suite of electronics. You get four riding modes to choose from (Eco, Urban, Rain and Sport), along with three customisable ones. Along with an ABS system from Bosch, it also gets cornering ABS and six levels of traction control. All of this can be configured through the new five-inch TFT display.
While Energica hasn’t disclosed the price, you can pre-order this electric ADV from June 2022. Deliveries are expected to commence by the second half of the year. Of course, expect it to be priced quite high and of course it won’t be coming to India. However, if you are interested in affordable electric ADVs, Ultraviolette might have something in the works that might pique your interest.
