Piaggio to launch 150cc and 200cc Vespa scooters in India

Piaggio, the largest two-wheeler maker in European market, is going to launch not only Vespa LX 125 in India but also higher engine cc Vespa scooters. The Vespa LX 125 will be launched in Auto Expo 2012, India. Later on, the company wants to bring 150cc and 200cc scooters in India.

According to CMD of Piaggio Vehicles India, Ravi Chopra, the company will begin its third innings with the Vespa LX 125 and expand the portfolio with 150cc and 200cc Vespa scooters. Not only this, the company will also bring superbikes from its Aprilia brand; it will launch Aprilia RSV4 in India that was recently showcased at Mumbai International Motor Show.

Piaggio is working to set-up it's first manufacturing plant at Baramati in Maharashtra; the plant will initially produce 150000 units of scooters annually, it will made investment of 30million Euro for setting-up the plant. At the starting stage, Piaggio will have 70 dealers in the country to make available the much-awaited scooter- Vespa LX 125.
