The Ather 450X promises to offer better performance and connectivity

  • The Ather 450X will also offer more intelligent features than the regular model.
  • It will be a limited edition scooter.
  • Ather Energy is likely to launch the scooter by the end of this month.

Bengaluru-based startup Ather Energy has announced a new upcoming electric scooter, the Ather 450X. The scooter promises to offer better performance, better connectivity, and more intelligent features than the standard Ather 450. The limited edition scooter will be sold pan-India with pre-orders set to commence in a few weeks. Expect Ather to launch the scooter by the end of this month. Those pre-ordering the scooter will get an exclusive T-shirt and two extra invite codes, which can be shared with other prospective buyers.

As far as the pricing is concerned, the Ather 450X is likely to command a premium of about 10 per cent over the standard model, which costs Rs 1,13,715 (on-road Bengaluru). Expect the 450X to cost around Rs 1.25 lakh (on-road Bengaluru).

In the Ather 450X, the brand could tune the motor to offer better acceleration as well as top speed. Ather may tweak the battery management system as well as the energy density of the battery to offer superior range. The standard Ather 450 offers a real-world range of around 75km in Eco mode. In the Ather 450X, a realistic range of around 90km seems pretty achievable, without having to change the battery packaging, especially considering it is located inside the floorboard and is non-removable.

The current-gen Ather 450 is already loaded with features like smartphone compatibility, a seven-inch capacitive touch screen with Over The Air (OTA) update capability, and even navigation and remote diagnostics. Ather is likely to expand the feature list even further with a host of innovative updates. There could also be a new user interface for an even more intuitive experience.

To differentiate the Ather 450X from the regular model, it is expected to get an exclusive colour scheme too, perhaps something even more premium-looking than the current white and black dual-tone colour scheme with green highlights. Its only rival in its segment would be the Bajaj Chetak electric, which is expected to be launched next month.
