GasGas specialises in light off-road bikes as well as trials competition bikes

KTM has decided to expand its relations to Spanish off-road specialist GasGas as the two companies look forward to tackling electric mobility as well as co-developing new motorcycles. Already, the Austrian brand was strengthening its ties with Bajaj by going electric. This partnership has already proven quite beneficial to both parties as Bajaj has helped KTM become the global leader in big bike sales. In 2013, KTM also bought Swedish brand Husqvarna, which is all set to enter the country soon.

For the uninitiated, GasGas is a well-established brand when it comes to making light off-road bikes. Its trials competition motorcycles are proven winners with riders such as Adam Raga winning multiple world trials championships with the Spanish outfit. GasGas is also known to make enduro machines as well as quad motorcycles.

KTM’s joint venture with GasGas will help the Austrian brand extend its footprint in Spain. “It is intended that GasGas will be added, alongside KTM and Husqvarna motorcycles and e-bikes as the third brand to the strong sales network of the KTM Industries group,” KTM said.

As a result of this tie-up, we hope to see a KTM trials bike as well as road-going GasGas bikes. It is unlikely that the outcome of this relationship will make it down to India as it is focused mainly on expanding KTM’s reach in Spain. However, we would definitely like to see KTM going bolder in the near future and introducing its off-road range of motorcycles under the GasGas umbrella in India. There is still good news for those who have longed to get their hands on an off-road motorcycle from KTM as the 790 Adventure will be arriving in India in the next 12 months.
