KTM 390 Adventure R vs KTM 390 Adventure: ALL Differences Explained
The R offers more for less
The newly-launched KTM 390 Adventure R is the most hardcore variant in the line-up, but it costs about Rs 19,000 less than the KTM 390 Adventure (called the 390 Adventure S internationally). Now that makes things really interesting since a lot of the hardware on the R is better than that on the S:

The 390 Adventure R gets long travel suspension at both ends with about 30mm more wheel travel at both ends, as compared to the standard 390 Adventure. This also results in the seat being 60mm higher, and the ground clearance being 35mm more than the standard variant. The R also has an 18-inch rear wheel, and has more off-road oriented tyres on both ends. That said, the R gets tubed spoked wheels, which are a major factor in its lower price.
Another difference in the R is the lack of cruise control and optional turn-by-turn navigation, but it gets an Offroad Mode, which lets the rear wheel slide a bit, and enables off-road ABS (deactivates rear wheel ABS) – rest of the features remain the same.
Which One To Buy
Both the bikes have the same powertrain with same performance numbers. However, both the bikes differ vastly in what they are meant for. The 390 Adventure R is an off-road oriented bike, with on-road capabilities. On the other hand, the standard 390 Adventure has a good balance of road and off-road capabilities. Just for reference, the 390 Adventure X is more road-biased with lower off-roadability, than the other two.
If your aim is to travel to remote locations, ride on hardcore trails, and generally stay off the beaten path, the 390 Adventure R is the one to go for. However, if you want a bike that will primarily be ridden on tarmac, yet won’t be deterred on broken or unpaved roads, and is better at touring, the 390 Adventure is to buy.
KTM 390 Adventure S User Reviews
I also have a Duke, Adv has covered all the issues which I have faced on Duke when I use to go on long rides, Ride is also plush coupled with a great engine which proves itself on all grounds. Also it has a decent fuel efficiency considering its engine performance. Bike's comfortable its mileage is also good I get a decent range, but the engine won't feel as raw as BS4 duke, great electronics and safety. Just having engine oil consumption on higher side. Also the Trampler tyres give more life than Turanzas which came initially. Long hauling person should definitely buy this bike, long rides are so hassle free. And comfortable, also if you have to carry any luggage they have provided good anchoring points. Tieing a back pack or a duffle bag is easy.Read More

Suspension feels great in the city and even better on rough roads. Engine is punchy and fun, mileage is really good for the power, love the throttle response and breaking capabilities Definitely yes, if you love touring, weekend rides and want performance with comfort. Ideal for pune's surprising roads, a little tall but perfect for riders who enjoy long rides, highways and light off-roading.Read More
