Kawasaki will roll out an electric version of its Ninja 300 sportsbike next year

    Kawasaki announces electric Ninja 300

    • Kawasaki has been working on an electric Ninja 300 for a while now.
    • They showcased an electric rolling chassis at EICMA.
    • An electric version of the Ninja 300 was spotted being tested earlier.
    • Expect the motorcycle to arrive at EICMA next year.

Kawasaki has announced the development of an electric sportsbike at EICMA. There was even a rolling chassis on display at the Kawasaki pavilion at EICMA. An electric prototype was previously spotted testing before. While it had the Ninja 300 bodywork, the absence of an exhaust pipe indicated to it being propelled by an electric motor. This leads us to believe that Kawasaki is working on an electric version of the Ninja 300.

The rolling chassis showcased at EICMA seems to carry the Ninja 300’s suspension, brakes, wheels and even clip-on handlebars. However, instead of the baby Ninja’s diamond frame, this one gets a wide trellis type unit. It holds a large battery with an electric motor underneath. The motor seems to come with a 4-speed gearbox as well. Kawasaki has not revealed any details about the electric motor or the battery.

Now the battery appears to have a DC fast charger called CHAdeMO that developed in Japan and used to charge electric vehicles with a 120km range in just half an hour. The motorcycle gets regenerative braking which can be accessed via a button on the switchgear. It is similar to conventional braking. Only here the braking also charges the battery. While the prototype gets an LCD instrument console we expect to see a colour TFT screen on the production model.

The new electric Ninja is expected to be launched by late 2020/ early 2021. With the EV scene growing in India and Kawasaki already having a CKD setup up and running for the petrol-powered Ninja 300, they might as well get the electric motorcycle here via the CKD route.

      A Budget Beast
Been using it for almost 5 years now and never had it left me on the road stranding. The bike is a superstar with almost 26-30 mileage, it is just an unbeatable combination of power and efficiency. Cornering is so much fun after I upgraded the three and barely I was ever unsatisfied with the looks and styling its got.

      Performance and reliability
I chose Ninja 300 for its performance, strong top-end power as I was about passionate about riding. Its good beginner- friendly and revs without being jerky. Has comfortable ergonomics and is a balanced bike with reliability. So far engine was smooth and linear. Sporty but not aggressive and power is usable for city and highways. Longer rider are somewhat comfortable and is stable. Display and techs are basic and is slightly heavy. Braking could be sharper to some extent. Yes, I would recommend Ninja 300 for smooth, reliable and well-balanced to ride easily and still have fun on rides. It tend to have better performance but lacks some basic features which other bikes in the same segment offer.

Smooth engine, strong highway performance and spor
I choose this bike mainly because of its smooth engine and highway comfort. It feels very stable at high speed and gives confidence while riding. Looks are sporty and premium which I liked. In city suspension feels little stiff but I was ok with that compromise. Ride experience is mostly positive. On highways it feels planted and smooth even at higher speed. Handling is very good and cornering feels safe. Mileage is decent not too low not too high. In city traffic and bad roads you feel bumps little more. Yes I will recommend this bike to people who love riding on highways and enjoy sporty riding style. It is not for someone who want soft suspension or only daily city use. Buy it if you want performance and feel, avoid if mileage is main concern.

      Easy to Maintain Ride
Needed a bike for both work and weekend trips. This one offered decent comfort and better mileage. I chose this model after comparing with two others. It had better looks and better average. This super bike is perfect for rides Very satisfying ride. The seat is wide and soft. Long rides are comfortable. Performance is stable. I’m happy with how it rides. No vibration, good pickup, and handling is easy. Mileage has stayed steady. Best for riders who do both city and highway trips. Runs smooth and gives good fuel return. I’d suggest it to anyone who wants balance of mileage, comfort, and power. Worth the money. Yes, this bike is perfect for rides
