Japan Mobility Show 2025: Top 5 Best Looking Bikes
This year’s show witnessed lots of lovely neo-retro bikes and futuristic concepts too!
The 2025 Japan Mobility Show was a visual treat for motorcycle fans, with manufacturers showcasing a mix of futuristic designs and nostalgic revivals. From bold electric concepts to retro-inspired machines, here are five of the coolest-looking two-wheelers that grabbed everyone’s attention at the event.
Yamaha XSR900 GP
The 2026 Yamaha XSR900 GP made waves with its striking Legend Yellow colour scheme. The design pays homage to the iconic racing era of the 1970s and 80s and celebrates “King” Kenny Roberts’ championship-winning YZR500, a 2-stroke V4 engine-powered race bike. Its yellow-and-white livery with black ‘Speedblock’ graphics instantly transports you back to Yamaha’s golden racing days.
Underneath the classic looks sits a thoroughly modern machine powered by an 890cc, inline-triple engine producing 119PS and 93Nm. The bike also comes equipped with a 5-inch TFT display, adjustable KYB suspension; and a full suite of electronic aids – cornering ABS, traction control, slide control, wheelie control, cruise control. It’s essentially a thoroughly-2025 bike but with funky 70s clothing, and that’s the combo retro fans dream of! Honda Outlier EV Concept
Honda turned heads with its Outlier EV Concept, a bike that looks like it rode straight out of a sci-fi movie. Seemingly drawing inspiration from the legendary Akira anime, the Outlier combines futuristic styling with an all-wheel drive setup using in-wheel motors at both ends, allowing riders to adjust torque distribution between the front and rear wheels.
It also comes with a double-wishbone front suspension similar to the one seen on the Honda Gold Wing, offering improved stability. Inside, a super-wide TFT console provides all the necessary readouts and smartphone connectivity. The Outlier is basically an… ahem, outline of how electric two-wheelers might look beyond 2030.
Kawasaki Z900RS Café
The Kawasaki Z900RS Café blends the brand’s rich heritage with modern performance. With its round headlight, quarter fairing, and teardrop-shaped fuel tank, the bike channels the spirit of 1970s café racers. The 2026 update brings in advanced electronic aids like cornering ABS, a bidirectional quickshifter, and cruise control.
Power comes from a 948cc inline-four engine producing 116PS and 98Nm, ensuring it performs as well as it looks. It’s a perfect mix of nostalgia and practicality, appealing to riders who want the Kawasaki Z900’s firepower with old-school charm.
Yamaha Motoroid:A
Among the wildest displays at the show was Yamaha’s Motoroid:A, a concept that challenges what a bike can be. It doesn’t even have handlebars or a seat, resembling more of a living machine than a vehicle (good luck trying to figure out how to sit on the bike without falling off!). The Motoroid:A explores how technology can bring humans and machines closer together.
Yamaha claims it can recognize its rider’s face, balance itself, respond to gestures, and even move autonomously. The brand calls it a “mobility companion,” suggesting a future where bikes don’t just carry riders, they interact and learn from them – a travel buddy, if you may.
Modified Honda CB1000F
The Honda CB1000F based custom bike stood out with its retro racer vibes and blue colour with racing inspired graphics. Massive radiator, lowered clip-on handlebars, light weight OZ rims, sticky Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa tyres, Moriwaki Blade performance exhaust among other modifications should make this retro bike an absolute dominator at the racetrack.
