Image of the Qianjiang SRV300 has been leaked online

  • Qianjiang had partnered with Harley-Davidson to make a 300cc motorcycle.
  • The bike gets a 300cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine, with a claimed top speed of 128kmph.
  • Expect Harley to bring out its version of the cruiser next year.

The approval documents of the Qianjiang SRV300 cruiser have been leaked online. To jog your memory, Harley-Davidson had partnered with QJ (Qianjiang) Motor in 2019 to make small-capacity motorcycles for the Chinese and other Asian markets. It was supposed to launch the Harley-Davidson 338R in China late last year. However, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the global decline in Harley’s business forced the brand to develop a new strategy, concentrating on the core markets that have robust demand for premium bikes.

That said, its partnership with QJ Motor has remained intact. This leads us to believe that the recently leaked Qianjiang SRV300 could be Harley’s upcoming 300cc cruiser, to be launched perhaps next year.

According to the approval documents, the SRV300 packs a 296cc liquid-cooled V-twin motor churning out 30.7PS of power. It is likely to be linked to a 6-speed transmission, and the belt drive is clearly visible in the image. The claimed top speed is 128kmph, which feels a little low for a 300cc twin-cylinder engine. The motorcycle weighs 163kg kerb, which should allow effortless maneuvering in tight spaces.

The document also reveals premium underpinnings such as an inverted front fork, twin rear shock absorbers, and disc brake at both ends with dual-channel ABS. The alloy wheels measure 16-inches up front, while the rear is a 15-incher. Shorter riders should be able to access the seat easily.

Design-wise, the motorcycle looks similar to the Harley-Davidson Iron 883. It features an all-LED lighting system, and the instrument cluster is likely to be fully digital as well. Since Harley-Davidson is primarily a cruiser maker, expect the brand to kick off its small-capacity onslaught with the cruiser, followed by the naked. For Harley, cruisers have a stronger brand-connect, and the SRV300 would go a long way in attracting young Harley enthusiasts. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
