Patent images of Haojue’s (Suzuki’s partner in China) upcoming scooter have leaked online

  • Leaked patent images reveal European styling and similar design as the Honda PCX150.
  • Codenamed HJ150T-28, it is expected to pack a 150cc engine.
  • Could spawn into the Suzuki Burgman 150.

Patent images of Haojue Holdings’ (Suzuki’s partner in the Chinese market) upcoming scooter, codenamed HJ150T-28, have leaked online. As the name hints, it is likely to be powered by a 150cc engine. However, we aren’t sure if it’s a liquid-cooled or air-cooled engine as the pictures aren’t clear enough. We believe it will have an air-cooled unit, probably the 150cc motor derived from Haojue’s VR150 scooter, which makes 9.5PS at 7000rpm and 10.5Nm at 5000rpm. However, if Suzuki intends to bring it to India, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a derivative of the Gixxer’s 154.9cc motor which churns out 14.8PS and 14Nm.

Design-wise, the HJ150T-28 looks quite similar to the Honda PCX150, especially in profile. Up front, the apron-mounted headlamps are all-LED and look quite sleek. There’s a little windshield complementing the instrument cluster, and the apron also seems to get footrests, just like in the Burgman Street. You get a closed apron and floorboard pocket to keep your knick-knacks too. The tall handlebars and nicely chiselled seat should ensure comfortable ergonomics. At the rear, it gets split type grab rails above a Burgman-style tail lamp.

Underpinnings include telescopic forks up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Stopping power is courtesy disc brakes on both ends, with ABS. The wheels appear to be 14-inch units, and the rear wheel well feels a lot more fluidly designed than the Burgman Street’s. In markets abroad, this scooter would compete with the Honda PCX150, Yamaha NMax (which is India-bound) and the likes.
