Indian Motorcycle is planning some aggressive moves for the Indian market including CKD operation, new products and dealerships.

Indian Motorcycle is doing good in the Indian market with a sales figure of around 90 units last year. Now, the company is expecting to increase this number to 140 units for this year and has some exciting plans to achieve the target. Recently, we got to know about the future strategy and planning of the company which is definitely going to help in strengthening its foothold in the market. The plans looking promising and they bring some good news for the Indian Motorcycle fans in the country as well.

The biggest news from this reveal is that Indian Motorcycle could start CKD (Completely Knocked Down)  operations in the country by 2018, which means there ccould be a significant fall in the prices of the Indian motorcycles after the local assembly starts. The company might start the CKD operations in a phased manner, starting from the smaller products, which are sold more, like the Indian Scout.

Before starting the CKD operation, Indian Motorcycle plans to bring some new models to India including the new Springfield and the Chieftain Dark Horse. According to the details given by the company, the Indian Springfield can be expected to launch before Diwali i.e. in October, this year, while the Chieftain Dark Horse can arrive at the Indian shores next year in January.

Indian Motorcycle is also working on the expansion of its dealer network across the country, which includes a full-fledged showroom in Kolkata next month. This might coincide with the launch of the Springfield. Another Indian dealership is coming to Jaipur, Rajasthan, which is also scheduled for a launch before the end of this year. In the beginning of the next year, the company plans to set up its store in Kochi, Kerala, followed by some more dealerships in 2017.

Currently, Indian Motorcycle is offering the Scout Sixty and the Scout in India starting at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) along with the high-end range of Chief cruisers including Dark Horse, Classic, Vintage and Chieftain models. The flagship model of the company is the Roadmaster, which is available in India for around Rs 36.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
