To compete with Hero MotoCorp in the commuter segment, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India Ltd is planning to introduce new models. Reportedly, the Japanese automaker has imported the TMX 125 for testing purposes. The Honda TMX 125 is available in some of the international markets, and in India, it will target the rural areas. The company is already having the 125cc CB Shine, which happens to be the highest selling 125cc motorcycle in the country. However, when we look at the sales report of last few months, the Hero MotoCorp has registered higher sales figures in the 125cc motorcycle segment, thanks to its three different offerings - the Glamour, the Ignitor and the Super Splendor. The upcoming affordable commuter from Honda is expected to be priced under Rs. 40,000, making it the cheapest model in the company’s motorcycle portfolio in India.

The heart of the motorcycle will be of 124cc which will be further connected to 5 gears. Usually, the bikes in this segment feature 4-speed gearbox such as the Bajaj CT100, the TVS Star Sports etc. We are pretty sure that 124cc engine will help the bike to run smoothly and to return decent fuel economy.  In terms of power, the bike easily wins over its competitors in the similar price bracket. The styling of the motorcycle is quite average and features spoke wheels, a flat seat, box headlamp, rear carrier and a long flat exhaust making it a suitable product for the rural market.

Now who all will be its competition? Though, the company is eyeing the entry level commuter segment of Hero MotoCorp, considering the price it is expected to get, it will rival the Bajaj CT100, which is priced at Rs. 35,034 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
