The baby CBRs now look like the legendary Fireblade more than ever

Yesterday, Honda launched the CB350RS in India and today its Indonesian joint-venture company, PT Astra Honda, launched the Tricolour variants of the CBR150R and the CBR250RR SP in the country. If the name doesn’t give it away already, here’s what the latest variants are all about:

Both the bikes now get Honda’s racing paint scheme of red, blue and white, hence, the name Tricolor. It’s a representation of Honda’s years and years of dominance in motorsports. However, that’s all there is to it. Nothing else has changed on the Honda CBR150R and the CBR250RR SP.

The former continues to be powered by a liquid-cooled single-cylinder 149.16cc engine that makes 17.1PS and 14.4Nm of torque. The CBR250RR, on the other hand, houses a liquid-cooled parallel-twin 249.7cc motor with an output of 41PS and 25Nm. Both the bikes get a six-speed gearbox with an assist-and-slipper clutch.

The styling hasn’t been altered either. Honda has retained the edgy bodywork hunkered on a Diamond Truss frame. The sporty LED headlamps, the clip-ons, and the split seat add to the aesthetics of the baby CBRs. The CBR250RR gets a larger LCD screen, three rider modes, ride-by-wire, and a quickshifter too.

While the previous-gen CBR 150R came with preload-adjustable telescopic front forks and 5-step preload-adjustable linked monoshock, the latest model is equipped with non-adjustable USD forks and the same monoshock as before. The CBR250RR comes with USD forks and a linked monoshock with 5-step adjustability.

The Honda CBR150R Tricolor ABS variant is priced at IDR 40,600,000, roughly Rs 2.09 lakh in India, and its elder sibling, the CBR250RR SP Tricolor costs IDR 77,300,000, approximately Rs 3.99 lakh. Sadly, Honda has no plans of getting either of the two baby supersports to India. Even if Honda tries to assemble the bikes here, they’ll still end up being too expensive for the segment.
