Everyone’s been itching to sample Hero’s all-new Xtreme 160R. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait too long now as the bike has started reaching select dealerships in India.

What really works in favour of the Xtreme 160R is its pricing and feature list. You can choose between two variants: single disc and twin disc, priced at Rs 99,950 and Rs 1,03,500 (ex-showroom) respectively. At this price point, it undercuts pretty much all of its competitors.

Powering the bike is a BS6-compliant 160cc engine that makes 15.22PS at 8500rpm and 14Nm at 6500rpm, mated to a 5-speed transmission. It also weighs in at 138.5kg (kerb), which gives it a power to weight ratio of 109.89PS/tonne.

It gets some segment-first features too. For starters, the Xtreme 160R comes with all-LED lighting, hazard lights and a side-stand engine cut off switch. Other than this, the bike gets a full-digital instrument console and integrated pillion grab handles.

It's pretty conventional on the hardware front -- a telescopic fork and a 7-step adjustable monoshock. Braking is handled by either a front disc and a rear drum setup or a twin-disc setup depending on the variant. Single-channel ABS comes as standard. Its 17-inch wheels come wrapped in 100/80 tyres up front and 130/70 at the rear.

The Hero Xtreme 160R competes against the Yamaha FZ-Fi V3, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Suzuki Gixxer and Bajaj Pulsar NS160
