The latest iteration of the affordable Hero XPulse 200 has received cosmetic as well as mechanical updates, the biggest one being the addition of the 4-valve head. To find out whether these updates have brought any significant difference to its performance, we at BikeDekho have put the motorcycle through its paces. And here are the results:
The XPulse 200 4V draws power from a 199.6cc single-cylinder air-cooled 4-valve engine that delivers an additional 1.02PS and 0.9Nm over the 2-valve motor. This additional power and torque is further complemented by the revised gear ratios, a new 45-tooth rear sprocket, and a bigger 7-fin oil-cooler surely makes the ADV faster than before.
The updates to the gear ratios have further helped the motorcycle improve its drivability, as now you can ride the bike at lower speeds in a higher gear without worrying about the engine stalling. Also, it has improved the in-gear acceleration, resulting in better roll-on figures.
While these updates have made the XPluse 200 4V quicker than before, it has still managed to deliver excellent mileage figures in the city and almost identical fuel efficiency on the highway as compared to the 2V variant. This improvement in the fuel efficiency comes as a result of the improved combustion and almost similar top end of the bike.

- comfortable for off road and cityI’ve been using this bike for the last 3 years, and overall, I’m very happy with it. It’s a great choice for both city rides and off-roading. The mileage and maintenance costs are good, and the suspension is excellent for potholes and rough Indian roads. The main drawbacks are engine heating during hilly rides and some fatigue on rides over 200 km in a day. Overall, a comfortable, reliable, and capable off-road bike. - Best in the segment.Fabulous bike for people who commutes daily and also for long rides. This bike goes everywhere, does everything. Great mileage, works great on highways and off roads. Top speed of this bike is 130 kmph. Comfortable to ride, easy to handle in traffic. This bike have all good features. Must buy and comes under budget also. ABS also works like a charm of this bike. - Great, But if you add on a bit extra to stock bikeBike is really good, if you choose to ride a stock vehicle, you might feel a bit comfortable, but if you get some accessories on it, it will be your friend for life. - Hero x pulse 200 4V review after 22000 kmsI am five eleven and it suits me for my height. Comfort of a rider not a pillion and mileage is a plus for this bike. Maintenance cost is also very good and cheap you can get service done from any of the authorised hero service centres. I have been driving since almost twenty two thousand kilometres so far and im fully satisfied with the performance of this bike. I just changed chain socket and fuel motor in the fuel tank. Ride comfort is very good for rider not for pillion thats only negative. Yes I would definitely recommend this bike to those who have height above five eight. - Best choice for Bad Roads and Daily Use.I chose Hero Xpulse 200 4V for its comfort on bad roads while still being easy to ride daily. The suspension works great on potholes, the engine is smooth for city rides, and maintenance stays affordable. Ride quality has been comfortable so far, especially on rough roads. Mileage is decent for daily use, handling feels light and confident, and while top speed isn't aggressive it's stable and relaxed at cruising speeds. Yess -- I'd recommend it for daily riders who want comfort on rough roads, easy handling in traffic, good mileage and reliable performance.
