The extended range versions of the Optima and Nyx scooters were also showcased at the launch event

  • The Hero Electric Dash has a claimed range of 60km.
  • It is powered by a 48V 28Ah lithium-ion battery.
  • It gets premium features like LED DRLs, LED headlight and a digital information console.

Hero Electric has introduced its new electric scooter, the Dash, at a price of Rs 62,000. The electric scooter will be available at all 615 Hero Electric dealerships across India soon. This is one of the premium offerings in the Low Speed series of Hero Electric’s products. Recently, the company’s Optima and Nyx received extended range variants with the ‘ER’ suffix. However, these scooters are part of the High Speed series. They are priced at Rs 68,721 and Rs 69,754 respectively. More details on the two scooters here. Hero will also be bringing a lead-acid battery version of the Dash which could be priced around Rs 45,000 - Rs 50,000. All prices mentioned above are ex-showroom India.

Given that this is primarily an intra-city scooter, the Dash has a decent range of 60km on a single charge with a top speed of just 25kmph. The lithium-ion battery has a rating of 48V 28Ah, which again is not too high. It takes nearly four hours to fully charge the batteries with a fast charger. Thankfully, to combat our Indian roads, the Dash has a ground clearance of 145mm.

Premium features like LED DRLs, LED headlight, digital information console and a USB charging slot are standard on the Dash. Plus, for the sake of convenience, it gets tubeless tyres and remote boot unlocking feature.

Hero Electric is going big with its expansion process as it plans to go from 615 touch points to over 1,000 dealers by the end of 2020. In the next three years, the company also plans to ramp up its production capacity to 5 lakh units annually. Hero Electric has also said that all of its High Speed series scooters will be eligible for FAME II benefits, which coupled with the reduction in GST rates, will make them more affordable in the near future.
