Hero 450cc Dakar-based ADV: Photo Gallery

Take a closer look at Hero MotoCorp’s upcoming ADV based on the brand’s Dakar rally bike!

Hero MotoCorp surprised us all at the Hero World Event 2020 in Jaipur by showing us a sneak peek of its upcoming Dakar-based 450cc ADV motorcycle. It is expected to be priced at around Rs 2.2 lakh and is likely to be launched by the end of this year. Take a closer look at this ADV in detailed images:

A large front wheel and long travel suspension gives the prototype a high ground clearance befitting a proper ADV.

The motorcycle rides on a large 21-inch front spoke wheel. The rim looks like it’s made of aluminium and comes wrapped with Continental TKC 70 tyres. It also gets a forward-offset axle to decrease trail and reduce steering effort.

The bike comes to a halt using a front petal disc with a twin-piston radial caliper. It also gets ABS and we hope the production version will get switchable ABS for some slideways fun.

The wide handlebars get decent quality switchgear. The key slot is just ahead of the tank area and the battery compartment is located just behind the key slot.

The Dakar-spec Hero 450RR gets a 450cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. Expect Hero MotoCorp to bring down the displacement to 350cc-400cc in the production motorcycle. It is likely to produce around 45-50PS, which should be enough for our roads. Also, the trellis frame looks slightly different compared to the Dakar-spec motorcycle.

The rear comes with a linked monoshock with adjustable preload. 

The swingarm appears to be made of cast aluminium. It holds the rear 17-inch spoke wheel and a petal disc with a single-piston caliper.

Like the KTM 390 Adventure, this motorcycle features a bolt-on rear subframe. For some reason it has been covered up. But expect Hero to unveil a production-ready prototype of sorts at this year’s EICMA motorcycle show.
