EICMA, the largest two-wheeler expo in the world started today, embracing the auto space with the premieres of most exciting motorcycles. Yamaha MT-03 is one of those street fighters that made its first public appearance at Milan in Italy.

As expected, MT-03 is a naked version of R3 with upright riding stance, fuel tank mounted air intake pods and new colour schemes. The bike is powered with the same 321cc parallel-twin, a liquid-cooled engine of R3 that produces 42 PS of power and 29.6Nm of torque. This 321cc engine is mated to 6-speed transmission. It features digital-analog instrument console, dual channel ABS having 298 mm front and 220 mm rear discs. The 10-spoke, 17-inch alloy wheels of the bike are shod with 120/70 section tyres at the front and 140/70 at the rear. Similar to R3, it is bolted on a diamond frame having telescopic shock absorbers up front and monoshock at the rear for carrying out suspension duties.

The Yamaha MT-03 is designed to cater the fast growing compact sportbike segment across the globe and will lock horns with bikes such as Honda CBR300F, Kawasaki Z300, KTM Duke 390 and upcoming BMW G310R. This naked version of R3 is most likely to be launched in India as a CKD unit, just like its sibling R3.

In India, we can expect the bike to be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. This naked street fighter is expected to be priced around Rs. 20,000-30,000 less than YZF-R3.
