When two Italian powerhouses collaborate, you get a super exclusive motorcycle

Ducati is no stranger to doing limited edition motorcycles and even tying up with car brands. The Bolognese bike maker had made an AMG branded special edition Diavel some years ago. But that collaboration ended when Ducati was acquired by Audi, and since then we’ve been waiting for Ducati to do something special with one of Audi’s brands. Well, that wait is now over as Ducati has just taken the wraps off a limited edition Diavel 1260 Lamborghini.

What makes this motorcycle stand out is its styling, that’s clearly been inspired by Lamborghini’s first hybrid sports car, the Sian FKP 37. Not only does this Diavel share the Sian’s uber cool metallic Olive paint scheme (called Gea Green), even the design and colour of its wheels have been made to match those of the mad Lamborghini. The same dull gold finish (called Electrum Gold) from this Diavel’s alloy wheels can also be found on its trellis frame, and we think that just looks smashing. In order to pay true homage to the Sian, quite a few bits on this Diavel are made from carbon fibre, such as the front mud guard, radiator shroud, tank extensions, rear tyre hugger and even the exhaust! Heck, the exhaust tips have also been molded into hexagonal shapes to mimic Lamborghini’s design language. And to complete that true Lambo look, the front Brembo brake caliper is painted bright red.

Mechanically, there are absolutely no changes compared to the Diavel 1260 S, with its Euro 5 compliant 1,262cc L-twin motor still putting out 163PS and 129Nm (that’s still 4 PS more than the Euro 4 motor mind you). It’s got the same fully adjustable Ohlins suspension and all its other goodies like electronic rider aids are still present. But all the carbon bits have reduced the dry weight of this Lamborghini edition by one kilogramme over the Diavel 1260 S (it now weighs 220kg), so this might just have a fractional edge in performance.

While this Diavel 1260 Lamborghini is a limited edition motorcycle, Ducati will still be making ten times more units of it than Lambo made of the Sian - that’s a total of 630 bikes, each of which will get its unique serial number etched on a plate that’s stamped on the frame. Since the Diavel 1260 is now Euro 5 (i.e. BS6) compliant, it’s only a matter of time before it’s on sale in India. But will we get this mad Lamborghini edition? Well, we certainly hope so.
