At Milan, Ducati has revealed the 400cc Scrambler, called Scrambler Sisty2. It has been named so because in 1962 Ducati launched their first ever Scrambler. It is powered by a 400cc air cooled L twin engine derived from the 803cc engine doing the duty on the bigger Scrambler. It produces a healthy 41bhp of power and around 34.3NM of torque and with the wet weight of 183kgs, it should be an enthusiastic performer for the kind of motorcycle it is. The bore and stroke is 72mm x 49mm and shares the 50mm single throttle body with twin injectors from the bigger Scrambler.
Why did Ducati do it, though? To make a proper A2 compliant motorcycle, that is why. It also has 3 levels of adjustability for the seat height which is a pretty good feature to have. ABS is standard. While it is a Scrambler, there are several cost cutting efforts in the overall design like the conventional telescopic suspension at the front instead of the upside-down forks in the bigger Scrambler.
Everything sounds good so far, the only problem seems to be the price which is said to at 6450 pounds making it only 800 pounds cheaper than the Scrambler Icon. Perhaps Ducati might need to rethink that bit and it shall be a huge hit.
