2026 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V: Features Explained

The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is a capable 160cc streetfighter. But, in order to appeal to a wide audience with different budgets, TVS offers it in five variants with quite a few differences in important features. Picking the wrong one could mean missing out on things like dual-channel ABS or traction control, both of which will come in handy when things get hairy.

Prices start at Rs 1,19,890 for the RM Disc Black Edition. Moving further to the top variants, you get the Single Channel ABS at Rs 1,26,890, the Dual Channel ABS with USD at Rs 1,32,740, the USD with TFT at Rs 1,39,440, and the newly launched range-topping TFT with Map Mirroring at Rs 1,41,440 (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).

Here's how the equipment looks across the five variants:

Practically speaking, even if you go for the cheapest RM Disc, you're not missing out on the essentials. Sure, it's got an LCD console without connectivity, but it offers quite a bit of information including acceleration timer, clock, and other regular information. The Single-channel ABS variant adds connectivity to the LCD console, offering turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alerts and other connected features. While the LCD console does the job just fine, with neatly laid out information, the TFT screen should feel a bit more upmarket. The new top model has a much better, tangible feature-advantage: Google Map mirroring. Additionally, it also gets a panic brake alert and USB-C port and that’s pretty much the only difference between the top variant and the variant below it. In our opinion, the extra Rs 2,000 over the USD with TFT variant is totally worth it as it can make city commutes much easier.

More importantly, all variants get riding modes: Urban, Sport and Rain, which alter the engine output figures and also the ABS intervention levels depending on the chosen mode.  

GTT is TVS’ term for low-rpm assist. This feature allows the rider to move at low speeds with just the clutch modulation and no throttle. This helps in situations where there’s heavy slow-moving traffic. 

While the suspension difference is more of a mechanical change rather than a feature, it is important to know nonetheless. The inverted fork on the higher-end variants should aid handling, but you won’t lose out on much by choosing the ones with the telescopic fork, as that’s been very well-tuned.

Safety Features

Decoding the safety tech across the five variants is pretty straightforward once you look at the names. The Single Channel ABS model (and also the RM Black Edition) have the anti-lock braking functionality working only on the front wheel, while the Dual Channel ABS with USD and USD with TFT, and TFT with Map Mirroring variants get ABS on both wheels.

The good news is that every single variant gets a rear disc brake as standard, so you aren't stuck with a drum setup anywhere in the range. If you want traction control, however, that is kept strictly as an exclusive feature for the top two models: TFT, and TFT with Map Mirroring. It’s not a deal-breaker as such, as the bike itself isn’t so powerful that it warrants one. But having it will come in handy on slippery or wet roads, especially for newbies. Also, the new TFT with Map Mirroring variant gets panic brake alert, which turns the hazard lights on in case of a sudden, aggressive brake.

At the end of the day, it comes down to how much you're willing to spend for extra reassurance on the road. The RM Disc already covers the basics well: a proper rear disc brake, LED lighting, and even riding modes, so you're not really losing out on much even at the lowest price; the only thing that is not there in the RM Disc variant is the Bluetooth connectivity.

If you’re really keen on a more premium look, then the USD variant makes sense. But if you want a bit more functionality, then we’d recommend skipping the USD with TFT variant, and directly going for the top-end TFT with Map Mirroring variant as it gets all the features that are practical for daily commutes as well as spirited weekend rides. Whichever one you pick, you're still getting the same engine, and the same fun character that's made this bike a favourite in its class.
