Simple Energy has launched the all-new Ultra electric scooter in India. It is the brand’s flagship e-scooter, positioned as a long-range EV. Thanks to its aggressive performance figures, and a feature-loaded package, the Ultra is clearly built for riders who want more than just a basic city commuter.

The Simple Ultra has been launched at a price of Rs 2,34,999 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This puts it in the premium electric scooter segment, going up against some of the most capable, and premium EV offerings in the country.

Battery And Performance

The Simple Ultra is powered by a large 6.5kWh battery pack, delivering a claimed range of up to 400km on a single charge. This makes it one of the longest-range electric scooters currently available in India. The on-paper performance of this e-scooter is a strong highlight, with quick acceleration and a top speed of 115kmph. The scooter is clearly tuned to offer a mix of thrilling performance and practical usability for daily rides as well as longer commutes.

Features And Hardware
The Simple Ultra comes loaded with features, with a strong focus on safety, connectivity and convenience. It gets four levels of traction control, along with six riding modes: Eco, Ride, Air, Sonic, Eco X and Sonic X. There’s also regenerative braking for improved efficiency. The scooter features a 7-inch touchscreen TFT console with smartphone connectivity, Google Maps based navigation, OTA (over the air) updates and ride statistics. It also gets cruise control, hill-hold assist, fall detection, TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system), park mode, limp-home mode, and smart alerts. There is also connected tech like geo-fencing, time fencing and scooter tracking.
Underpinnings

The Simple Ultra has a telescopic fork and a rear monoshock. It gets a 200mm front and a 190mm rear disc brake setup setup with CBS (combined braking system). The e-scooter runs on 12-inch alloy wheels with 90-section tyres at both ends.

While the price is rather high, it aims at drastically reducing range anxiety, while also being practical in other aspects. The Simple Ultra could easily be one of the most exciting electric scooters currently on sale.
The Rs 45,000 price difference, as compared to the Simple One 5kWh, is a bit much for the extra range. With 265km, the latter offers an ample claimed range, which should be more than enough for daily commutes.
