Honda has launched the NX500 E-Clutch in India, priced at Rs 7,43,900 (ex-showroom, India). The middleweight ADV now gets Honda’s new E-Clutch technology, which was first seen on the Honda CBR650R and Honda CB650R.
What’s New

The biggest update here is the addition of Honda’s E-Clutch system. It uses electronic control to manage clutch engagement while starting, shifting gears, and stopping, reducing the need to use the clutch lever manually. Despite this, riders can still use the clutch normally whenever they want. This setup should make riding in city traffic a lot easier, especially during daily commutes where constant clutch use can get tiring.

Along with this, Honda has also introduced two new colour options for the NX500: Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic and Pearl Horizon White. Both shades look quite fresh and suit the NX500’s adventure-bike design really well.
What’s Unchanged

Honda has not made any changes to the overall design of the NX500. The bike continues with a tall stance, muscular fuel tank, and a sleek looking tail section. It still looks like a proper adventure tourer without being too bulky. The bike is powered by the same 471cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that makes 47.5PS, 43Nm, and comes paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The motor is known for its smooth and linear power delivery along with excellent refinement. The underpinnings also remain unchanged and the NX500 continues with Showa inverted fork, along with a preload-adjustable monoshock. It rides on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheel setup, with a 110-section front, and 160-section rear block pattern tyre. Braking duties are handled by a dual 296mm front, and a single 240mm rear disc brake setup with dual-channel ABS.

Feature-wise, the bike gets a 5-inch TFT console with smartphone connectivity and supports turn-by-turn navigation, SMS/call alerts and music control. The bike also gets a switchable traction control, all-LED lighting, and a USB-C charging port.
Bikedekho Says

The Honda NX500 has always been appreciated for its smooth power delivery, highly refined parallel-twin engine, and solid build quality. It is comfortable, easy to ride, and feels premium overall.
The biggest issue, however, has always been its pricing. Since the bike is brought to India as a CBU (completely built unit), it has always been expensive for what it offers. The price of the standard NX500 started at Rs 6,33,180 (ex-showroom, Delhi), which means the new E-Clutch variant costs Rs 1.11 lakh more. That is a huge premium for a convenience feature.
Things get even more interesting if you compare the NX500 E-Clutch with the recently launched BMW F 450 GS. Its top-spec Trophy version priced at Rs 5.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), also gets an Easy Ride Clutch system. This makes the BMW Rs 2.13 lakh more affordable than the Honda, which could make many buyers think twice.
Here is a detailed comparison between the BMW F 450 GS and the Honda NX500.
