BREAKING: All-New Ducati Monster V2 Launched In India At Rs 13.99 lakh

The Ducati has launched the all-new Monster in India, and this time around, it gets much more than just a cosmetic makeover. The new fifth-generation Monster gets a completely new 890cc V2 engine, a lighter chassis, updated electronics and, importantly, a design that brings back some of the classic Monster styling.

The pricing for the all-new Monster V2 starts at Rs Rs 13,99,000 and goes all the way up to Rs 14,45,000 (all prices ex-showroom) for the top of the line Monster Plus. 

Available Colours

The new Ducati Monster V2 is available in three striking colour options: Ducati Red, Iceberg White, and Sport Livery. The aura of the classic Ducati Red is still unmatched, however the other two shades too look quite tempting.

The new Ducati Monster is actually 4kg lighter than the previous model. 

Engine And Performance 

The biggest change is underneath the skin. The new Monster gets Ducati’s latest 890cc V2 engine, replacing the old 937 cc Testastretta V2. The new motor produces 111 PS, 91.1 Nm, and uses Intake Variable Timing (IVT) to improve the way power is delivered across the rev range. Ducati says more than 80 percent of the engine’s maximum torque is available between 4,000 rpm and 10,000 rpm, so it should have plenty of usable performance without feeling too aggressive at lower revs. 

It also gets Ducati Quick Shift 2.0, which allows clutchless up and downshifts. There are four riding modes: Sport, Road, Urban and Wet – along with four power modes that alter throttle response and power delivery. Another interesting change is the service interval. Ducati claims the valve clearance check interval is now 45,000km, which is unusually long for a performance-oriented motorcycle.

What You Should Know

The Monster’s design has gone back to its roots. Ducati has brought back the large, muscular fuel tank that has been a defining feature of the Monster since the original arrived in 1992. The new bike gets a round LED headlight with the familiar DRL signature, a short rear section and a single-piece seat. At the same time, Ducati has made the overall design cleaner and more compact.

The chassis has also been redesigned. The aluminium frame is attached directly to the cylinder heads, while the engine continues to act as a stressed member. At the rear, there is a technopolymer trellis-style subframe and a double-sided swingarm inspired by the Panigale V4. 

Features And Hardware

The new Monster gets a 5-inch TFT console which is larger than the 4.2-inch unit on the previous model. It supports Ducati’s Multimedia System and turn-by-turn navigation.

The electronics package is controlled by a six-axis IMU and includes:

• Traction control

• Wheelie control

• Engine brake control

• Four riding modes

• Four power modes

• Ducati Quick Shift 2.0

The bike also gets redesigned switchgear to make changing riding modes and electronic settings easier.

Underpinnings

Suspension duties are handled by a 43mm Showa inverted fork at the front and a preload-adjustable rear shock (on both variants). Braking is taken care of by twin Brembo four-piston callipers working with 320mm discs at the front. The 175kg weight, compact dimensions and revised chassis should make the new Monster quite agile, while the more upright handlebar position is aimed at making it easier to live with on a daily basis.

The standard seat height is 815mm, but Ducati offers a 795mm low seat and a combination of low seat and lowering kit that brings it down to 775mm making it a lot more accessible for shorter riders.
