Brand has also provided the Konarc with a 450 W on-board charger, which is basically a lot more compact to carry around. This electric scooter has a top speed of 70 kmph for the S-Line variant and 80 kmph for the Z-Line variant. While these figures aren’t aimed at making the Konarc a performance scooter, they should be adequate for typical city riding.

The Konarc gets a TFT instrument console, which runs on Ather’s latest AtherStack 7 operating system. The console offers smartphone connectivity along with turn-by-turn navigation, music controls, SMS and call alerts, and several other connected features. Being a family-oriented scooter, the Konarc also focuses on everyday practicality and ease of use.
Ather has also given the Konarc keyless operation, while the key fob is called Magic Key. What makes it more convenient is that there is no need to push any button or rotary knob to turn on the scooter. Also it can lock on its own, once it detects the key fob is not near. If the rider accidentally loses the key fob, the scooter will show notification on the screen to alert the rider. It gets a 31-litre underseat storage and there is also a button on the key fob to unlock the underseat storage, which at a touch of that button pops open the underseat. To improve pillion comfort, Ather has also given the Konarc a height adjustable and very well cushioned pillion backrest which should enhance the overall pillion comfort.

The Konarc is based on Ather’s new EL-01 platform and therefore gets an all-new chassis. It comes with a fairly long wheelbase of 1352 mm which should ensure better overall stability. Suspension duties are handled by a conventional telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear (with 100 mm of travel).
One of the biggest highlights of the Konarc is its 14-inch front and 12-inch rear alloy wheel setup. The larger front wheel should help in improving stability and ride quality, especially over broken roads.
Braking duties are taken care of by a front disc and rear drum setup, with a combined braking system (CBS) offered on the scooter. Along with this Ather has also introduced AeBS (advanced electronic braking system), which is basically a more advanced version of CBS providing up to 20% higher peak braking force as per Ather. For added convenience Ather has also given the Konarc a centre stand.

The Ather Konarc will rival the likes of the TVS Orbiter, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak range and Hero Vida VX2 in the Indian electric scooter market. Its combination of multiple variants, a claimed range of up to 200km, 14-inch front wheel and Ather’s connected technology could give it a strong proposition in the family scooter segment.
BikeDekho Says
The Konarc marks a significant shift for Ather as the company enters the more mass-market, family-oriented electric scooter space. It is also the first model to use the new EL-01 platform, which could underpin more affordable Ather products in the future. With a claimed range of up to 200km, larger 14-inch front wheel and a number of convinient features, the Konarc certainly looks promising on paper. Also the lineup is quite flexible that means there is a Konarc variant for almost everyone with different use case.
