Quick Highlights

  • Positioned between the Exclusive and GS Trophy variants

  • Misses out on the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) system

  • Gets fully adjustable suspension, just like the GS Trophy variant

BMW Motorrad has finally launched the Sport variant of the F 450 GS in India at Rs 5,90,000 (ex-showroom). It sits between the Exclusive and GS Trophy variants. Here's all you need to know:

Price

Variant

Price

F 450 GS Base

Rs 5,35,000

F 450 GS Exclusive

Rs 5,55,000

F 450 GS Sport (NEW)

Rs 5,90,000

F 450 GS GS Trophy

Rs 6,15,000

All prices ex-showroom, Delhi

The new Sport variant is Rs 35,000 more expensive than the Exclusive trim while being Rs 25,000 more affordable than the top-spec GS Trophy variant.

What's New?

The biggest highlight of the Sport variant is its new glossy red paint scheme, which gives the bike a sporty appearance and is the best colour in its lineup, in our opinion.

Another major change is that the Sport variant does not get the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) system offered on the GS Trophy. The ERC system automatically operates the clutch, making riding in stop-and-go traffic and at low speeds easier.

However, we tested the ERC system ourselves and found that it is a bit difficult to get used to. Hence, the Sport trim should appeal to people who want all the bells and whistles of the top variant with a more conventional gear-shifting experience.

The new Sport variant also gets the adjustable sport suspension from the GS Trophy variant. The 43 mm KYB inverted fork gets rebound and compression damping adjustment, while the KYB monoshock can be adjusted for rebound and preload. So, if you are someone who wants to fine-tune the suspension according to your needs, you can go for the Sport variant. The Sport variant also gets off-road footpegs, handguards, and an engine guard for additional protection.

What's Unchanged?

The BMW bike continues to be powered by the same 420cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine. It makes 48 PS and 43 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch. The Sport variant also gets a BMW Shift Assistant Pro, which is a bi-directional quickshifter.

It gets a steel trellis frame, an aluminium swingarm, and rides on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheel setup, wrapped in dual-purpose tyres. Braking duties are handled by a 310 mm front disc with a Brembo four-piston calliper and a 240 mm rear disc at the back.

In terms of features, the bike is equipped with a 6.5-inch TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and call/SMS alerts. It also gets a ride-by-wire throttle with four riding modes: Rain, Road, Enduro and Enduro Pro. Other features include all-LED lighting, heated grips, adjustable levers and a USB Type-C charging port.

In terms of safety features, the bike gets dual-channel switchable ABS, switchable traction control and a hazard light switch.

BikeDekho Says

The BMW F 450 GS Sport makes a strong case for itself as it gets all the bells and whistles of the GS Trophy variant, including fully adjustable suspension, off-road footpegs and Riding Modes Pro, while also giving the riders a conventional gear-shifting experience.

It is Rs 25,000 more affordable than the GS Trophy, and we think BMW should have introduced the Sport variant in India right from the beginning, as in our opinion, it is the best variant of the F 450 GS lineup.

About the bike

It was my dream bike and it's so reliable and smooth. It has many features, like multiple riding mods and the trophy version has a ERC that means (easy riding clutch) it is very helpful to the beginners. The handling of the bike is very smooth and it gives around 20 to 24 milage on an average in highways and its seats are so much comfortable and it has a heating grips which helps me in early morning rides. I like to recommend this bike to the proper off-road bikers and they love this very much because of its handling and ERC you can also adjust the suspensions of both side and have a good off-road experience. good vehicle high waiting period

I went to the BMW Bengaluru showroom, they are not even accepting booking and the vehicle already has 8 months waiting period which is very high for a made in India bike other than that very good looking and stylish bike with ERC clutch. Very easy to maintain in the city and bumper to bumper traffic conditions.Read More

Excited for the bike to be launched

I am desperately waiting for the bike the headlight looks very interesting. I got chills when I saw the bike's introduction video. the color scheme is perfect. the TFT display makes it look more futuristic. the power output of the bike will be crazy, especially on the trails, I hope the bike has good low-end torque which can help in the trails. although this bike is a big competitor of the Himalayan the BMW F 450 GS will be priced aggressively, at the end of the day it is a BMW. At the end of the day I'm just waiting for the bike to be launched and I get to see the bike in person.Read More
