Ather Energy has officially confirmed the name of its upcoming budget-friendly electric scooter ahead of its debut at the upcoming Ather Community Day on August 29. Called the Ather Konarc, the new scooter will introduce the company’s all-new EL01 platform and is expected to make Ather’s technology more accessible to a wider range of buyers.
Built On A Brand-New Platform
The Ather Konarc will become the first production model to use Ather’s EL01 architecture, which has been designed with flexibility in mind. The platform can accommodate battery packs ranging from 2 kWh to 5 kWh, allowing the brand to introduce multiple variants in the future.
Although Ather has not shared the complete technical details yet, recent images from the production facility suggest that the scooter will feature a telescopic front fork and a monoshock. It is also expected to use an electric motor similar to the one found on the Ather 450 range, but with a tune focused on offering a smoother and more comfortable riding experience for everyday city commutes.
Expected Features
Despite being positioned below the Ather 450 lineup, the Konarc is likely to offer a long list of modern features. It is expected to get a TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, enabling turn-by-turn navigation along with call and SMS notifications. The scooter could also debut with the latest AtherStack 7 software, bringing features like voice commands, pothole alerts and crash detection. Other expected convenience features include reverse mode and hill hold assist.
Another highlight could be Ather’s Advanced Electrical Braking System (AEBS), which combines regenerative and mechanical braking to improve stopping performance while recovering more energy during braking.
Expected Pricing & Rivals
The Ather Konarc is expected to be priced between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will rival the TVS Orbiter, Bajaj Chetak C2501 and Vida VX2, making it an important product for Ather in the affordable electric scooter segment. With its official debut just weeks away, more details are expected to be revealed soon.
