2026 TVS Apache RTR 160 2V: Newly Launched Variant Explained

The new Dual Channel ABS with TCS Variant rounds off the sporty commuter really well in terms of features

TVS Motor went on a festive launch spree introducing several updates to its entire Apache lineup, including the launch of a new Dual Channel ABS with TCS Variant for the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V. This serves as a new top variant for the sporty commuter, priced at Rs 1,27,990 (ex-showroom Delhi). Here’s all you need to know about it:

What’s New?

The new variant of the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V gets a hazard lights feature, along with LED turn indicators. And of course, as it is in the name of the variant, it gets a traction control system. While it isn’t really necessary on such a small-capacity bike, it just rounds off the already-impressive features list. Moreover, if you’re riding on a slippery/ wet road, it will come in handy.

The bike comes with four paintjobs: Matte Black with Red alloy wheels, Pearl White with Red alloy wheels, Arctic Teal, and Granite Grey.

What’s Unchanged?

What TVS has left unchanged in the RTR 160 2V is its core mechanicals. Its single cylinder, air-cooled, engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox produces 16.04 PS at 8,750 rpm and 13.85 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The bike has three riding modes which can alter the engine's power delivery, throttle response, and ABS: Sport, Urban, and Rain. There’s also a low-rpm assist that helps the bike move at slower speeds without throttle input, so that bumper to bumper traffic crawling becomes less fatiguing.

It continues to get dual-channel ABS, telescopic fork and gas-charged twin rear shock absorbers, LED headlight and taillight, Bluetooth connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation, crash alert feature, call/SMS alert, and other such features. The kerb weight remains the same at 139 kg, and so does the rest of the dimensions and chassis.

The TVS Apache series (such as the RTR 160 and 200 4V) is widely praised for offering aggressive styling, class-leading power, responsive handling, and high-tech features like riding modes and smart connectivity at an affordable price, though riders note some engine vibrations at high speeds and a slightly firm ride. A visual walk through and test ride highlighting the features of the updated Apache lineup.Read More

A Durable Bike with Excellent Ride Quality

I chose this bike because I love riding the Apache. I haven't found the same level of comfort in any other bike in this segment and the riding posture is also very comfortable and perfectly balanced and relaxed on every ride. The ride quality of Apache RTR 160 has been very good so far. For long routes, city ride the most important things are comfort and riding posture, and that's what really makes this bike's ride quality better. Everyone has their own choice, but I would definitely choose this bike in this segment. As per current regulations, bikes are subject to scrapper after 15 years, and if this bike is properly maintained, it still run like day one even after 15 years. It's a very durable machine.Read More

Best bike for daily city rides.

I chose the Apache RTR 160 because it has a sporty design good mileage and strong pickup which is perfect for daily city use. It feels stable at high speed and the exhaust note is enjoyable. The only downside is its slightly stiff suspension on bad roads and the seat could be softer for long rides. The ride quality has been smooth and the engine responds quickly which makes traffic rides comfortable. Handling is sharp and I feel confident while turning. On long rides I feel a little vibration and the riding position can cause mild back pain. Still it is enjoyable for both short and medium rides. Yes I would recommend the Apache RTR 160 to riders who want a stylish bike with good performance for daily use. It has reliable mileage and great road presence but those who want soft suspension or long touring comfort should take a proper test ride before deciding.Read More
