BREAKING: TVS XL100 New Variant Launched - Now Looks Every Bit Modern

TVS has launched a new variant of the TVS XL100 called the XL100 Heavy Duty Alloy. This is now the new top variant, and gets more modern features, compared to the other variants in the lineup. It is priced at Rs 65,047 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The first major change is the addition of 16-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, which will make it easier for the rider to deal with punctures compared to spoke wheels with tubed tyres that’s present in all the other variants. 

Spoke wheels are not only cheaper than alloys, but can also handle impacts better and are easier to repair. Their only drawback is that they usually accommodate tubed tyres. That said, the alloy wheels in the new variant should be strong enough for most use cases, and the tubeless tyres is an added bonus. 

The addition of an LED headlight has made the scooter look and feel a bit more premium, and its main advantage is that it puts less load on the battery. However, the brightness and overall efficiency of the headlight is something we can comment on only after testing the moped. 

Lastly, this new variant is offered in 3 colour schemes: Red, Blue and Grey. The colours look quite flashy, except the grey one, which is a bit subtle. The brand has offered some beautiful graphics on all 3, which gives the XL100 a youthful vibe. Other than these changes, the XL100 Heavy Duty alloy remains similar to the other variants. 

It is still powered by the same 99.7cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine, which produces 4.35PS and 6.5Nm. It gets the same telescopic fork and twin rear shock absorber suspension setup, and drum brake at both ends. Key features include an analogue instrument console, silent starter, bulb indicators and tail light, mobile charging port at the bottom of the console, and a removable pillion seat.

Compared to the earlier top variant, the Comfort i-Touchstart, the XL100 Heavy Duty Alloy manages to offer more practicality for a small premium of Rs 1,342. The XL100 does not have any direct rivals, but the closest alternative is the Kinetic e-Luna. Do note that it is an EV.
