It’s the first electric scooter in India that you can purchase with or without the battery pack!

Bounce Infinity e-scooter is priced from Rs 45,099 (ex-showroom Delhi). Offers a claimed range of 85km. Claimed top speed is 65kmph.

Bengaluru-based ride-sharing startup Bounce has launched the Infinity E1 electric scooter, the first of its kind in India to be sold with and without the battery pack. The electric scooter with the battery pack and charger retails at Rs 68,999, whereas the one sold without the battery is priced at Rs 45,099 (both ex-showroom Delhi). The latter comes with a ‘Battery-as-a-Service’ monthly subscription scheme that costs extra (around Rs 850 - Rs 1,250 depending on the plan). Pan-India deliveries are planned to commence in March 2022 through the company’s dealership network and its online platform. Test-rides will begin in a couple of weeks. The state-wise pricing is as follows:

States

Prices for the variant with the battery pack and charger

Gujarat

Rs 59,999

Karnataka

Rs 68,999

Delhi

Rs 68,999

Maharashtra

Rs 69,999

Rajasthan

Rs 72,999

All other states

Rs 79,999

The version without the battery pack costs as low as Rs 36,000 in a state like Gujarat where there's an additional state subsidy. The two variants of the Bounce E1 e-scooter can be booked on the company’s official website for a refundable Rs 499, and both e-scooters are eligible for FAME II subsidies. If you buy the electric scooter without the battery pack, you’ll have to pay (around Rs 35 per swap) to replace the battery at Bounce’s upcoming battery-swapping network. The company intends to set up battery swapping infrastructure for over a million of its e-scooters over the next 24 months. However, this does not give the owner a complete control over the battery's charge and discharge cycles as the battery pack is constantly changing.

Bounce had earlier acquired 22Motors, and the Infinity E1 is essentially a derivation of the 22Kymco iFlow electric scooter. Hence, it comes with a curvy Vespa-like design and an all-LED lighting system. The fully digital instrument cluster is smartphone-compatible, and you can access functions like remote tracking, battery charge status, geofencing, anti-theft, and tow alert using a dedicated smartphone app.

The Bounce E1 electric scooter is powered by a BLDC hub motor offering a peak torque of 83Nm and a claimed top speed of 65kmph. It can accelerate from 0-40kmph in eight seconds. There are two primary riding modes: Eco and Power. In case of a puncture, you can also use the ‘Drag mode’ to allow the scooter to crawl at walking speeds. Oh, there’s the cruise control feature too.

The electric motor is linked to a 48V, 39Ah IP67-rated portable lithium-ion battery pack offering a claimed range of 85km. It can charge using any conventional electric socket, and it takes 4-5 hours to charge fully.

Underpinnings include a telescopic front fork, twin rear shock absorbers, disc brakes at either ends with regenerative braking system, and alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. For extra practicality, the Bounce E1 has 12-litre underseat storage with USB charging port and apron-mounted and underseat utility hooks.

The Infinity E1 is offered in five colours: Sporty Red, Sparkle Black, Pearl White, Desat Silver and Comed Grey, and it’s available with a 3-year/ 50,000km warranty. You can also customise your e-scooter with special liveries through the official website. The Bounce Infinity E1 goes up against the Okinawa iPraise Plus, BGauss B8, and Ampere Magnus Pro.

All in all, the Infinity E1 seems a commendable attempt from a company that has just entered the lucrative EV segment. Moreover, its flexible pricing should help prospective customers make the switch to electric vehicles more easily. We hope Bounce manages to set up a robust network of dealerships and swapping infrastructure soon, as both will be crucial for the manufacturer’s sustenance.
