BMW F 900 GS & F 900 GS Adventure: Price & Rivals
The new BMW F 900 GS and BMW F900 GS Adventure are priced at Rs 13,75,000 and 14,75,000 (ex-showroom), respectively. That means the F 900 GS and F 900 GSA are now Rs 80,000 and Rs 1.0 lakh more expensive than their predecessors, respectively. Both ADVs are available in India as CBUs (completely built-up units). Their deliveries will start in October 2024.
The F 900 GS comes in two colour options: São Paulo Yellow and Lightwhite/Racing Blue Metallic. The F 900 GS Adventure is available in two colours as well, including Black Storm Metallic and White Aluminium Matt. They go up against the other 800-900cc ADVs in India including the Triumph Tiger 900 and Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE.
BMW F 900 GS & F 900 GS Adventure: What’s New?
The BMW F 900 GS comes with a rally bike-inspired design. The ADV does not have a large beak at the front, has slimmer body panels and replaces the metal fuel tank with a fibre one. All this has resulted in a 229kg kerb weight, which is 14kg less than the BMW F 850 GS.
The F 900 GS also features a higher positioned handlebar and lower-set foot pegs which help in controlling the bike when standing on the pegs and riding. It also improves rider comfort while cruising down the highway.
The BMW F 900 GS Adventure has also got a few design updates. It now gets new body panels that are sleeker than before, but still overall look similar to the F 850 GSA. The ADV also continues to feature the front beak too. The F 900 GSA lost just 2kg as compared to the F 850 GS and weighs 246kg (kerb).
Both the BMW F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure are equipped with a bigger 895cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine that delivers a peak output of 105PS at 8500rpm and 93Nm at 6750rpm (10PS and 1Nm more than the F 850 GS) on both bikes. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slip-and-assist clutch. Both F 900 GS and F 900 GSA have a top speed of over 200kmph.
The BMW F 900 GS comes with an 870mm seat height (10mm higher than before) and a smaller 14.5-litre fuel tank. Whereas the BMW F 900 GSA has an 875mm seat height and a bigger 23-litre fuel tank capacity.
BMW F 900 GS & F 900 GS Adventure: What’s Unchanged?
The BMW F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure feature a large 6.5-inch TFT display, with smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth for music and navigation controls. They come equipped with all LED lighting and also have USB charging ports. Additional features on the ADVs include cruise control, heated grips, adjustable brake, clutch and gear levers. Both come equipped with two riding modes: Road and Rain.
Both ADVs come equipped with a 43mm Showa inverted fork with 230mm suspension travel and a preload-adjustable monoshock with 215mm suspension travel. Braking on the F 900 GS and GSA is managed by 305mm twin front discs and a 265mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS as standard. Both ADVs ride on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels, fitted with 90-section and 150-section tubeless tyres, respectively.
BikeDekho Says
The F 900 GS and F 900 GSA are now Rs 80k and Rs 1 lakh more expensive than their predecessors. However, the new bigger 895cc engine, better features and a significant reduction in their weight make both bikes quite reasonable. The new BMWs are priced directly against the Tiger 900, but the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE is cheaper, but has a smaller engine with less performance on offer.
