BMW Motorrad has once again showcased its smallest displacement motorcycle at the Geneva Motor Show. Having made the Indian debut at 2016 Auto Expo, BMW G 310 R has made many public appearances before its launch in mid-2016. This is the first motorcycle which has been developed by the joint venture of TVS and BMW, and will be manufactured at TVS facility. TVS will also take care of it’s after sales services in India. Alongside G 310 R, the company also showcased S 1000 RR, R nineT, S 1000 XR and R 1200 GS at the Expo. In India, it will compete with Benelli TNT 300, KTM 390 Duke and Kawasaki Z250.

TVS is also working on the fully-faired model of this 310cc offering. Presently named as Akula 310, the bike was also showcased at the Expo. Akula will be launching in the fourth quarter of this year and will have similar specifications as its sibling. These TVS-BMW offerings come equipped with a 313cc, single cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which is mated to a 6-speed transmission system. The motor produces 34bhp at 9,500rpm along with a peak torque of 28Nm at 7,500rpm.

Coming to the other specifications of BMW G 310 R, it has 17-inch alloy wheels equipped with 300mm and 240mm disc brakes at the front and rear wheel respectively. The wheels are wrapped in 110/70 R17 front and 150/60 R17 rear tyre. Also, the bike features a two-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) for safety. When launched in India, G 310 R is expected to be priced just over Rs. 3 lac, which can prove to be a good price for motorcycle enthusiasts wanting to own a BMW.
