Aprilia Tuono 457: Who Is It For?

The Tuono 457 rivals other sub-500cc bikes like the KTM 390 Duke, Yamaha MT-03 and the Zontes GK 350

Aprilia India has launched the new Tuono 457, priced at Rs 3,95,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The bike comes with an aggressive streetfighter design. Aprilia has used a new design language with the smallest capacity Tuono, and it looks different than the bigger Tuonos which have a small fairing around the headlight. The bike also has a slightly tweaked fuel tank design also. It comes in two colours: Piranha Red and Puma Grey.

The Aprilia Tuono 457 is powered by the same 457cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine as the Aprilia RS 457 that makes a peak output of 47.6PS at 9,400rpm and 43.5Nm at 6,700rpm. The Tuono has a bigger 44-teeth rear sprocket (1 tooth more than the RS 457), which means better low-end torque and better acceleration. The bike is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch as standard.

The baby Tuono is feature-loaded as well. The naked bike is equipped with a 5-inch TFT instrument console with smartphone connectivity offering turn-by-turn navigation and, call and SMS alerts. Rider aid features on the bike include a switchable traction control, and 3 riding modes: Eco, Sport, and Rain. A bi-directional quickshifter is available as an optional feature. 

The Aprilia Tuono 457 is equipped with an inverted fork and monoshock, both pre-load adjustable. The bike uses a 320mm front and a 230mm rear disc brake setup, with dual-channel ABS. It is fitted with 17-inch wheels, wrapped with 110-section front and 150-section rear tubeless tyres.

The naked Italian bike has a seat height of 800mm and a kerb weight of 175kg. Moreover, the bike has an easy-to-reach handlebar and mid-set footpegs, which provide a comfortable and relaxed riding posture. The bike has a split-seat setup and a sleek tail section as the RS 457.
