It would be the world’s only road-legal production-spec bike to come fitted with aero fairings.

The North American bike fans received a very special gift from Aprilia recently. During the 2018 MotoGP of the Americas, the company unveiled a special limited edition of motorcycle called the RSV4 RF LE. Aprilia has fitted the RSV4 RF LE with carbon fibre aero fairings or winglets making it the only road-legal production bike in the world to feature those. Only 125 such bikes will be produced by Aprilia, out of which 100 would be available in the US market and 25 in the Canadian market.

In addition to the carbon fibre winglets, the limited addition RSV4 RF also gets a special “Factory Works” paint scheme and a series production number on the upper triple clamp. One might think that these winglets will offer higher levels of aerodynamics, but that’s not the case, as the winglets are non-functional and only boost the aesthetics of the bike.

The graphics on the RSV4 RF Limited are influenced by the Italian Tri-Colour and the livery of the 1987 Aprilia AF1 250. Ridden by Loris Reggiani, Aprilia AF1 250 marked the first world championship win of Aprilia’s 294 Grand Prix wins.

Powering the RSV4 RF LE is the same brutish 999cc, V4 cylinder, 4-stroke, DOHC engine, which generates a maximum power of 203.8PS and peak torque of 115Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It also features the latest version of Aprilia’s race-developed APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control) system which includes traction control, wheelie control, launch control, cruise control and quick shift.

Suspension setup on the RSV4 RF LE consists of top-of-the-line Ohlins NIX USD forks at the front and Ohlins TTX monoshock at the rear, with full adjustability. The bike comes fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels shod with tubeless tyres. Braking is handled by dual 320mm floating discs with Brembo M50 monobloc calipers up front and a twin-piston 220mm disc at the rear.

The RSV4 RF LE will be available in the US market at a price of $24,499 USD (Rs 16.29 lakh) and at $25,495 CDN (Rs 17 lakh) in the Canadian market, which is $1000 premium than the ongoing RSV4 RF.
